We had pretty high expectations but unfortunately we were a little disappointed. We always try to hit the popular bakeries in every town we visit to see if we agree with the hype (as we are huge foodies), and while I can definitely see why folks love this place, we just didn’t have the same outcome. There’s a delicious looking array of pastries to choose from as soon as you walk in, and I’m sure they’re all good. We made sure to get there pretty early because there tends to be a long line out front later in the morning. We ordered the chocolate croissant for our sweet pick and went with two savory—the smoked salmon & the egg sandwich. I always get a smoked salmon breakfast sandwich everywhere we visit, and this one was just ok. They are premade (which we didn’t realize before coming), so my everything croissant was hard and didn’t taste fresh despite almost certainly being made that morning (because it was being refrigerated). The sandwich was also missing the chive cream cheese (which is says it has on the menu), so I’m assuming all the premade sandwiches were missing this, or maybe I just got the unlucky one out of the bunch. My boyfriend got the premade egg sandwich and they asked if he wanted it heated up, he said yes. The sandwich came out all soft and soggy, which he expected for it being already assembled and thrown into the microwave/oven to be heated. Regardless, the sandwiches were fine and edible of course. There was plenty of lox on my sandwich, but it would’ve been better with the chive cream cheese and a fresher croissant. I also ordered an iced latte with the blueberry lavender, and truthfully, it just tastes like blueberry lavender flavored milk. I can’t quite taste any espresso at all. The chocolate croissant was alright—it was better heated up. I will also add that the service was good, albeit lackluster. Overall, I would recommend coming here to experience it for yourself to gather your own opinion—most people tend to love it, but I wanted to share our experience. The atmosphere is adorable though. Very cute indoor and outdoor seating, I’m sure it’s pleasant in late...
Read moreI was very excited to try this place, but was left disappointed. It's clear they are offering so many things to so many customers that they cannot provide enough quality control. I went this morning and got several things, including a bacon chive breakfast sandwich, smoked salmon breakfast sandwich, blueberry scone, and several croissant based items (cheese and guava, sugar swirl buns, spinach and artichoke), as well as a vanilla latte. The breakfast sandwiches are made ahead in bulk, and the quality clearly suffers. The sandwich had good flavor, but the croissant was soggy and greasy (the bacon was also soggy - zero crispness). The salmon sandwich on an everything croissant was flavorful, but the croissant had been refrigerated - it was cold and felt soggy as well (albeit in a different way - almost stale). A telling note is that neither croissant flaked when eaten - usually a telltale sign of a fresh, well made croissant. Items like these should not be offered at all if they cannot be offered fresh. If I had known how poorly they would be, I would not have purchased them as it was about $20 just for the sandwiches. The latte had a nice vanilla flavor, but was lukewarm and had almost no foam (essentially milky vanilla flavored coffee). On a better note, the staff was friendly and patient as we decided what to order, the interior and outside seating was charming, and the sugar twisted croissant bun was lovely. I am reticent to come back here however, as there are so many other places to try. If you do, stick to iced coffee and avoid...
Read moreSuper disappointed. Although this is not our first visit, it will unfortunately be our last. The location itself is excellent; however, the overall customer experience has declined significantly.
The primary issue is the ordering process. Guests are required to wait in the same line...often stretching out the door and down the street....regardless of whether they are ordering a full meal or simply a drink. This creates long delays, especially as many customers use their time at the counter to decide on multiple family orders, slowing things down further. On this visit, all we wanted was a quick drink, yet we found ourselves stuck in an unnecessarily long and inefficient line.
It was clear the staff had no sense of urgency, which only compounded the wait time. Several other travelers we spoke with shared similar frustrations and even recommended other nearby options, which we tried and enjoyed. In years past, this location delivered a much better experience, so the decline in service was particularly disappointing.
While it seems the owners are successfully expanding their business, we hope they do not lose sight of what made their first location so successful—excellent customer experience. Without improvements, loyal guests like us will unfortunately choose to...
