Went for dinner with friends. We are local and had a good burger here once before so we decided to try it again. The atmosphere and patio is nice-they have done a beautiful job converting the existing space and adding the outdoor patio-- but that's where the good impression ends. Service on a quiet Monday evening was BIZARRE. The two waitresses on staff literally bickered in front of us about who would take our table. Unable to agree, they both came to take drink orders, leaving us in an awkward position. The one who "won the fight" to serve us seemed like she was under the influence of something-- making strange comments, exhibiting erratic behavior, and having slurred speech. In the middle of our meal she started to remove expired floral arrangements from all of the tables in the dining area, including ours-- to reach ours, she had to oddly and almost inappropriately reach over my partner's shoulder to squeeze by and grab the vase, rubbing up against him, interrupting our conversation, and definitely invading his personal space. A man who appeared to be a manager on duty just sat on a stool staring at customers the entire time. If he noticed anything odd going on, he didn't seem interested in doing anything about it. Several times we glanced over to find him staring directly at us. Other times he sat at the bar. The whole vibe was just so weird. I literally do not have any words to explain it other than ODD. The food? The burgers are good. Solid marks for the burgers. But the appetizer our waitress suggested as "a good one to share"- artichoke dip- was served in a dish designed to hold an individual creme brulée-type dessert. For $14-16 and for four people, one would expect it to be 2-3 times larger. That was a big disappointment. We opted to skip dessert because by then we just wanted to get away from the strange energy happening in that place that night. Not sure if they are having staffing issues or what, but it was a dinner we won't soon forget-- just possibly not for the...
Read moreThis great bar just opened in Mystic and I was excited to try it. I had been hearing a buzz on their pizza and I made sure to put this one on my list.
PARKING: like most restaurants in Mystic there's no parking but you still have street parking or paid parking across the street.
RESTAURANT: the restaurant has indoor and outdoor sitting. Bar is pretty big and extends to the outside part. I love that they have the outside part enclosed and heated. So there's plenty of seating area. Our bar tender was Rolando and I couldn't be any happier. I had heard plenty about him. He definitely knows how to set the mood and was very attentive. Then to the best part, omg I felt like I was back in Rome having the best Margarita ever. Their brick oven pizza is the best. The basil aroma transported me to Italy with the first bite. The sauce was amazing. We ended up ordering and extra one because one was not enough. I also tried their Fig Jam pie. It has a hint of sweetness, the combination of blue cheese and balsamic. I think we could have kept eating more if it wasn't because we had a meal earlier.
I loved this place so much I'm definitely coming back with a group of friends. I loved the ambiance; the...
Read moreThis was our first time at the restaurant since it's opened. The atmosphere and the decor are great. I really enjoyed some of the decorations and stylistic choices that they made in terms of the bathrooms and the bar. We were there on a Monday night, and while it was not busy the service was still relatively slow. They had a taco special as an appetizer which we ordered that we were really not impressed with. It really seems like a regular Old El Paso Taco with a fancy sauce (although the sauce was good). We also got the mushroom toast which was fantastic and I would highly recommend that. For entrees I had the steak tips which were good, but I expected more for a $36 plate. My wife got the good salad which she thought was good but nothing out of this world. My sangria was very good. Overall, I think this is a pretty great place to go and have some drinks after work, but we will not be coming back for dinner. Their brunch menu looks interesting, and I will definitely give it a try at some point, but overall it is really expensive and if it is anything like the dinner, just not...
