After reading a lot of reviews, I was hesitant to continue with my booking. However, the price and being pet friendly made it an easy choice. The location is great, a lot of things and activities to do; shopping, eating, gaming and near many beaches. The hotel lobby was clean and I liked the updated style. There is a dining area to eat or read and a sitting area with a fire place. The gym is well maintained and the pool and hot tub look clean. There is a laundry area if needed, takes cash I believe. It is important to note that there is not a free breakfast included. It is $15 a person and buffet style. The dinner menu is limited and only offered during certain hours. There is no room service. None of that was a problem for me. And it is not prime tourist season so it wouldn’t make sense for the hotel to have the extra expense of staff and material. The room had a mini fridge, Keurig and microwave. The room was spacious and plenty of room to sit and relax or work at the desk. I did read one review that they were upset there were no instructions to the remote for the tv…. It’s a basic remote. Channel 2 has the guide. It is nice because there are several HBO stations along with local channels. All the lamps have outlets and usb connections. The thermostats is adjustable, which is rare, I like being able to control the room temperature. There is a small area in the lobby with snacks and other items to purchase. The front desk is staffed 24/7. Of course most hotels could use some renovations but you really can’t beat the price for the location and amenities. The staff was nothing but very accommodating. There is a pet fee of $75 for the first few days and a daily $5 cleaning. This is beyond reasonable compared to other hotels we have stayed at. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to book another stay. Lastly, I’d like to point out that the property is clean and well maintained. Parking lots are well lit so I definitely felt safe walking my dog at night.

Disappointed by Lack of Compassion During a Difficult Time I recently had one of the most disappointing customer service experiences at the Hilton Garden Inn Hampton Coliseum Central in Virginia. Due to the government shutdown, I was unexpectedly furloughed and found myself without pay. Out of courtesy, I reached out 24 hours before my scheduled stay to cancel my reservation and explained my financial situation. Instead of understanding or compassion, the front desk clerk named India told me she could cancel the reservation but would still charge me the full $1,053 because it was a “busy weekend.” When I tried to explain that I did not anticipate being unpaid and simply could not afford the trip, she showed no empathy whatsoever. She passed me on to her manager, Devin. His tone was cold and dismissive, and it was clear that all he cared about was charging my card, not the human on the other end of the situation. He offered no additional help or understanding. After I contacted Hilton Corporate, Devin came back and said he would “only” charge me for one night plus taxes. While that may sound like a compromise, it still showed a complete disregard for what furloughed employees are going through right now. When people are trying to stay afloat, empathy should be the default, not an afterthought. I’ve always believed Hilton stood for hospitality, humanity, and care. This experience reflected none of those values. I truly hope corporate leadership takes note, because no one representing your brand should ever make a struggling guest feel unseen, unheard, and penalized for circumstances beyond their control. Empathy costs nothing, but its absence speaks volumes.

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn for 13 days. Within the first 24 hours we switched rooms twice times due to a variety of issues. The first room had mold lining the walls of the bathroom and no lamp. When I went to the front desk to tell them there was no lamp, they said they’d send one right up. A few hours later (with a do no disturb sign on the door due to a video call), a hotel service staff knocked on the door 8 times, called twice and left a voicemail on our cell phone saying there was a do not disturb sign on the door. I finally answered the door in the middle of the call and the lamp was handed to me and not installed. I found the mold the following morning and asked to switch rooms, which I was told there was nothing available. I was then given a points and appetizer voucher for my trouble. I waited for a new room and was placed in a room that reeked of smoke. I immediately came downstairs and had to wait once more for a new room. We ended up staying in this room since we did not think there were many other options at this point. This current room has dust on the vents and doesn’t appear to have been cleaned throughly. Throughout the course of the stay the staff has appeared friendly although there seem to be lapses in management of the property. There have been days where the staff forget to bring back fresh towels or they simply run out. I would not recommend this hotel to stay in and would not return. On a final note, we requested a king size bed and this property has “king size” rooms but these beds are not king size.

This hotel by far is the worst EVER. if I could give it a zero, I would. On August 15, 2025 I made a reservation for August 16 to 17. On August 16th I called prior to check in to say I would be arriving late, and they picked up and left me on hold. When I finally arrived on August 16 at almost 11pm, I was told that they were sold out and they couldn't accommodate my reservation. I am a Hilton Honors member (which apparently doesn't mean anything) and was treated like garbage. Upon my arrival on August 16th the young lady at the front desk said we are sold out and it didn't matter that I had a reservation. She made a few attempts to call around and get me another room, but the other hotels wouldn't honor the rate, or they were sold out. She basically said there's nothing more I can do and started giving us attitude when I requested for her to get her manager. I arrived in town from NJ (7+ hours away) and it was very late with nowhere to go. There were several other people in the same situation as us who ended up sleeping in the lobby. After calling around for almost an hour, I ended up getting a room at the Element which cost me way more money. The next morning, I woke up to an email that said I canceled after the cancelation period, and I may be assessed a fee. EXCUSE ME.... I didn't cancel! Your hotel sold my ROOM..... A few hours later on August 17th , I began to call the hotel to speak to the manager and several times I was told that they were either not there or was unavailable. On August 18 (Monday) I called and again I was put on hold and left there. After 10 minutes, I hung up and called back. When I called back, I was put on hold for 4+ minutes before they picked up to speak to me. On August 18 around 10:30 am, I finally spoke to manager and expressed my issues and was told I would get a call back the next day.... Well it's 2+ days later and I have not heard from him….. Then the corporate office sent me an email to offer me 50,000 points to my Hilton Honors account - NO, I DO NOT want points put on my Hilton Honors account, I want my $276.85 back that I had to spend at the Element (Marriott) for another room since your hotel was kind enough to sell out and leave me with NO where to go! This evening Aug 21 I reached out to corporate on Facebook only to be told that they were sorry for the inconvenience and they confirmed the 50,000 points and said no further reimbursement will be made. This is despicable and I will never book with their property again. Not to mention 2 of the family members traveling with me was my 82 yr old aunt and my 74...

Overall the hotel is very nice, the lobby is super clean and the staff have all been really friendly. Plenty of room to park and very close access to nice restaurants like Longhorn Steakhouse. Wal-Mart is also very close so if you forget anything it’s a quick trip.

I travel way too much so I always look for a handful of details to be right everywhere I stay. Air Temp, Desk/Chair, bed, lighting, TV, Mini Bar, and Room Service. I’ve detailed my experience below.

Air Temp: The room was set to 75 when I arrived but it was comfortably cool in the room. I prefer a much colder room, so I turned it down to 68 and it was nice and chilly in no time at all.

Desk/Table/Chair: The desk/table is large and has plenty of room to work. The only complaint I have is with the drawer. It has the handle sticking out so working at the desk is a bit uncomfortable since I have a bit of a gut and when working at the desk it sticks out far enough to be noticed. The chair is alright but not something I would want to sit in for long periods of time.

Bed: The mattress is medium-firm to firm. I’m a side sleeper and it was quite comfortable.

Lighting/Outlets: The room is fairly bright, and I found outlets and USB plugins all over the room. So you have plenty of options to charge your devices. Each bedside lamp has an outlet and USB plug and the desk has two outlets on the lamp and two wall outlets right behind it.

TV: It’s a nice 40” LG LCD TV. Picture is great but as with other Hilton's their TV guide and operation in general leaves a lot to be desired. It’s just sad in comparison to what Marriott offers with Netflix built in and a much better TV experience.

Mini Bar: Nice little mini bar with a Keurig coffee maker, microwave, and mini fridge.

Room Service: room service was excellent. The lady I spoke to was very nice and she helped me get exactly what I wanted for dinner. I got the 12 oz Ribeye (medium rare as it should be) and a Caesar salad. The steak was pretty good and cooked perfectly on the inside. The outside was a little overcooked on one side and had a bit too much of a char flavor. I like my steaks medium-rare and with no sauce, so the char flavor stands out. The salad was great. They only serve Coke products, so I had to settle for a Cherry Coke instead of a Dr. Pepper. More hotels should carry Dr. Pepper.

Cell Reception: incredible and I pulled over 100Mbps down and over 45Mbps up...
