I love Ross, any of the many stores in the chain. Merchandise can differ from one location to another. The prices on just about anything & everything you could want or need are more than competitive with other stores, such as Big Lots. Be prepared to look carefully at clothing, shoes, bedding, towels & rugs. Many of these items were purchased from the likes of "Mervyn's" as overstock & "factory seconds". "Seconds", not top quality, can range anywhere from a loose thread to twisted seams, improperly sewn zippers to a misplaced buttonhole. The same with towels & bedding. BE PREPARED TO SHOP! It takes some time to go through whatever it is you're looking for to find those hidden gems. Try as I may, I never spend less than an hour poking around; oftentimes longer...2-4 hours is not unusual for me. I'm still wearing many clothing items purchased more than 20 years ago, which speaks to the quality of their merchandise. I count Ross right up there with thrift shops. The major difference between the two shopping venues are "new" vs "used". Ross also offers senior discounts to persons aged 55 & up on Tuesdays. It's 10% off all items. Where I live, taxes are 10% of all taxable purchases, with the exception of food items. That 10% discount translates to paying "face value" for your items. I rarely walk out empty-handed. Enjoy your time...
Read moreEverything was good until i had to check out. the two cashiers working the line were in conversation with each other, laughing and telling personal stories to each other, the customers were very much a lower priority. My cashier totaled up my purchase before i was even done emptying the cart. I had to interrupt her conversation with her co-worker to explain I wasn't done emptying the cart, she looked confused and more importantly gave me a look that said why are you here. it was very annoying. I bought a lot, i needed bags to take the items to my car however the cashier didn't have bags bigger that a lunch sack. fine, i could take the cart to my car, but on the way out security stopped me and reminded me that the 8 foot pole attached to my cart would stop that from happening. Apparently in this situation the only way out is to drive your car up to the front door of the store, in the red zone and load it that way, this could have been avoided with bags that fit throw pillows. I went to my car, parked in the red and when I went to grab my cart the security person asked if i paid for everything, i said the receipt is in the bag, and told him that this was the worst...
Read moreToday 1/11/24 Cortney the security guard was follwing me around.
(2yrs ago) I've been coming here for over 10 years and there's a common occurrence of being followed by security guards. As soon as I walked in the guard name Daniel starts walking around following me. In the span of 10 minutes, he passed by me 4 times. He walked by a couple of seconds ago staring at what I was wearing, so I made eye contact with him, he said "hi" in a squirmish manner, then I replied in a sarcastic manner "hi, there you are again". A few years ago I took a ton of items to the dressing room, so naturally I was in there a while, a security device wasn't secured properly so it fell, but I thought nothing of it. Next thing you know one dim-witted employee comes by and says "you need to stop or I'm calling the cops", I was mortified. I addressed her about the situation and immediately left the store. I'm not spending my hard earned money at an establishment that asks as if I'm committing theft. I shop at Ross a lot, and this is the one that adopts this pattern of...
