Took the girls on a Tour of Millie’s Ice Cream Factory in Homestead today. Quinnex was an amazing tour guide.
They took the time to explain about how Millie’s went from a Dream to a Pittsburgh Staple.
We learned all about different milks and cream including which cows are the best for high fat content milk needed to make Millie’s delicious Ice Cream. They also told us how dairy free ice cream is made. We may or may not gotten into an argument over who was going to get to take home some half gallon chocolate milk after getting some to sample and finding out there were only 2 containers to purchase in the factory. 😯 ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. 🤤
We got to check out some of the machinery used to pasteurize the milk and also turn ingredients into the final product.
We got to taste and small some of their ingredients. Taste- maple syrup, chocolate, pistachio, and Carmel Smell- coffee and vanilla bean
The tour ended with sampling of 5 popular flavors: chocolate, vanilla, coffee, dairy free mango and strawberry sorbet
Everyone got a pint to take...
Read moreWhat a fun and informative experience! Quinn, who is the Customer Experience Manager and our Tour Guide graciously and patiently explained the making of Millie's ice cream from start to finish. They were able to inform our group with how the sourcing of ingredients begins to the science behind how it's made to the very end products sent to stores and restaurants. We were able to try samples at different stages of the making from both the ingredients including the local milk they use to the type of chocolate and coffee included in the final flavor. All of which were to the best of their knowledge ethically and sustainably sourced, with no artificial coloring or flavor. A must do experience for anyone who loves shows like "How It's Made" or even anyone who just loves ice cream. The price of the tour admission also includes your pick of a pint of ice...
Read moreI absolutely loved my tour with Quinn. Before the tour, there were several emails, making sure that everyone was prepared, knew where to go, and what to expect. The tour itself was thorough and Quinn was very knowledgable about all aspects of ice cream production and processes. They were very patient with everyone’s questions. It was interesting to be able to taste component ingredients, as well as several flavors of ice cream (and even a special, yet to be released flavor!). Moreover, Quinn’s love for and enthusiasm for their coworkers and bosses was evident, and you can’t help but love Millie’s even more, seeing the sense of community that they foster among everyone involved in getting ice cream to you. ...
