This experience is not authentically Hawaiian . Using a Tongan vessel , with Tongan and Samoan artifacts , and falsifying where their food and coconut water comes from . The owner/captain makes fun of Hawaiian culture and promotes cultural appropriation with fake tacky lei and wrongful teachings of sacred practices like pounding kalo (taro) . The Hawaiians who have worked there are passionate but the main owner is not Hawaiian at all . In fact , all the hawaiian practitioners including myself left this company because the owner has proven to us time and time again that he’s not here to help us , pay us on time , pay us correct amount , and has no respect for the Hawaiian community and our practices . I personally have only stayed for as long as I could to make sure these experiences were presented respectfully and authentically. But now that I am gone there are NO HAWAIIANS working for this “Hawaiian experience”. I am speaking as the girl in the bottom right of the second photo . They take advantage of those who visit who truly don’t know what Hawaiian culture looks and feels like . They also claim that the tickets pay for public schools and private schools to go out but they haven’t taken any schools out for a year now . Where is the money going ? As a Hawaiian , I would not recommend...
Read moreSeattle, Washington 32 Pending review 10x better than any commercial sunset cruise! Review of: Polynesian Canoe Sunset Sail Incredible trip on a gorgeous wooden catamaran built in Tonga. Only 6 passengers at a time, so it's really intimate, personal experience on the water.
The 2+ hour trip was spectacular, included live traditional music, meaningful connections, and storytelling with local native Hawaiian hosts. Plus we learned a thing or two about native Hawaiian history. We brought our older (70+) in-laws and they loved every single second, and felt comfortable and well taken care of. The captain, crew, and practitioners made us feel like family.
Children would also get a big kick out of this trip, including a chance to pound your own poi and try different traditional pupus. The hosts provide lots of food to try including poke, smoked fish, and more.
No booze, no smoking, so this is not your typical loud drunken cruise. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but this trip is a different, unique experience that no one should miss. What's better than a peaceful sail between the sun setting and the moon rising over Diamond Head, and hearing a few stories about the centuries of Hawaiian history before the Haoles showed up, then sailing home?

Read moreOur recent sunset sail with Kamoauli LLC in Honolulu was an exceptional experience that exceeded expectations. This is not your typical tourist cruise; it's a deeply immersive journey into Hawaiian culture.
The knowledgeable crew expertly guided us through the history and traditions of the islands. Their passion was evident as they shared captivating stories, explained the significance of landmarks along the Waikiki coastline, and even offered a hands-on introduction to poi preparation. The opportunity to participate in this traditional activity was a delightful surprise, fostering a deeper understanding of Hawaiian cuisine.
The sail itself took place on a beautiful double-hulled canoe, providing a unique and authentic perspective of the Honolulu coastline. Witnessing the sunset from the vantage point of this traditional vessel was truly unforgettable. The vibrant colors reflecting on the water created a breathtaking backdrop for the entire experience.
However, the true value of the Kamoauli Sunset Sail lies in its cultural immersion. The crew's dedication to sharing their heritage allows guests to connect with the spirit of Aloha in a meaningful way. I highly recommend this experience for anyone seeking a genuine cultural encounter...
