Royal Aloha — Hotel in Honolulu

I'm a nice guy with wife and two young kids. I was foolish enough to book stay at condo in 1909 Ala Wai Blvd.

This is the review I wish someone had written so I could have read it and avoided the nightmare stepping foot into this building.

WARNING TO ALL: this building is a broken down DUMP infested with cockroaches and located in a very seedy area. Immediately CANCEL if you have rented a condo here (thru airbnb-dot-com or whatever). Our story:

1. We airbnb rented a condo on 3rd floor
2. arrived to find 1909 Ala Wai to be old dilapidated disgusting building with MANY condos in obvious disrepair.
3. the people we saw in the elevators and hallways looked like hookers and thugs, total deadbeats. No exaggeration.
4. opened door to the 3rd floor condo and saw dozens of huge cockroaches scurrying across floor. Same sight in EVERY room and cupboard! We even saw cockroaches running the walls!
5. Windows broken out, no screens on windows, holes in wall, tile broken up on floors.

We called agent (handling this airbnb property) and they came over and even they were disgusted (or pretended to be!)

We refused to spend one night there because my entire family was so disgusted with 1909 Ala Wai Blvd.

It's sort of an apart hotel, tall building with 16 floors and a lot of apartments. Ours was clean, the fridge, oven, microwave, etc worked just fine. It had 2 rooms (one had a king size bed and the other two singular ones) and in the living room a comfortable futon. It also has a nice balcony. The best thing about it is the location, is 3-4 blocks away from the beach and the city centre (with all sorts of stores and dinning places). It didn't even bother me that there were some small roaches around the kitchen and the surroundings were quite noisy outside. Nevertheless, there were some nosies from the bathroom, regarding some water pipes, that came to my attention and disturbed me from having a perfect sleep. Anyway, I would definitely recommend it!

Mix use condo with short, vacation rentals and long term two bedroom units. Each unit is individually owned with some designed and furnished exceptionally well. The common areas of the property is well taken care of and the building is very secure with front entrance key entry and elevator key access. Each floor has a laundry room and an additional laundry room in the basement. There's a small pool in the lobby and the resident manager has an office as well where he's available to answer any questions.

Parking is limited to residents with undetground and a gated entry parking behind the building.

There is limited street metered parking on Mccully street.

They do a better job then most of the buildings in Waikiki and provide ample parking for contractors.
