Mine Gifts & Monograms — Attraction in Houston

I could be and hope I am wrong about the staff here possibly being prejudice against brown skin but I’ve been in this store 2x and both times there were 2 attendants at the register and at the most maybe one to two other customers in the store. Neither of the attendants took time to greet me or acknowledge, make eye contact or offer to assist. Each time I was in the store for 15 minutes browsing and the attendants were both very attentive to the white customers that came in the store after I came in. Aside from that the items are mostly made in China and extremely over priced. For example an identical soap that you can find Amazon for $3 was $12. A plastic/vinyl material lunch carrier w/o monogramming was $32 at this store and $6 on Amazon. And a made in China throw blanket was $49 at this store and virtually identical one on various sites through google were $20. You can scan the barcodes on the item and see how much they retail online at other stores. The difference is quite notable. I choose to spend my money where there is quality value and respect but unfortunately feel this place fell short...

I made the mistake of asking the woman at the front desk (who I believe is the owner of the store) to show me monogram options for my baby's hat. As I was looking through the different options and asking questions about various styles, she told me she "didn't have all day" to answer questions (I had been there approximately 5 minutes) and that she could "only do block letters" even though there were other options available. I was surprised that a small business would treat a potential customer like that, especially considering my questions were not unreasonable. Fortunately there are plenty of other monogram shops around town that I can shop at that do high quality work and treat people with respect. I went to this store to personalize a kid's tennis bag. The owner took the time to guide me through the whole process. The bag has silicone patches so we had to discuss the best options for where to put my daughter's name. He went above and beyond to make sure I was a satisfied customer. We got the bag back in a timely manner and we love how it turned out. We will definitely return to this store next time we need a personalized gift.
