My husband and I are visiting Houston for the first time, and we stayed at the Westin Galleria, which I loved by the way. The Daily Grill was just a few steps away from the hotel so we decided to go there on Sunday, today. This would have been our third time eating there if the service was better this time around. The terrible customer service started with the hostess. When we approached she looked so happy for us to interrupt her just standing there doing nothing, yes I am being completely sarcastic. There was no greeting, she just looked at us, grabbed the menus, and walked off. I could tell she was absolutely overjoyed to have a job that pays her so she can pay her bills or do whatever she does with the money she earns at this job that not everyone is fortunate to have. So anyway, we get to the booth and what do you know, there was no “enjoy your meal”or or anything that other hostesses say when they are pleasant. Not that I was expecting it from her at this point 🙄. Then she just puts the menus on the table and rushes off. There was some kind of liquid on my seat and of course I didn’t want to sit in it, so I stood and waited for our server or anyone to come by so they could get me a napkin or something. If I had one in purse I would have just used that but the one time I need one, I don’t have one. Anyway, the same hostess, passes by and sees me standing there and just continues to walk on. Ok no biggie, I’ll just wait for my server that still hasn’t shown up after 5 minutes. Ok, hubby I’ve had it, the customer service is non-existent with this crew. It’s sad really because they charge ridiculous amounts in the Galleria but people still make the choice to spend there money in your establishment, the least you could do is be nice. Or am I asking too...
Read moreMy wife got the chicken pot pie, and she loved it. It was better than she expected, and she is a very picky eater.
I got the ahi tuna sashimi appetizer and it was absolutely delicious. The tuna was seasoned and seared to perfection, and roasted kale and cucumber salad accompanied the tuna very well. The appetizer was so good, I would have eaten three of them.
The cream spinach was excellent - some of best I ever had. It was full of flavor with just the right amount of cream and seasoning.
The waiter was extremely attentive and courteous and kept our table clean and our glasses full, and the server brought the food out promptly.
This would have been a five star review, but the prime rib just ruined the experience for me. The prime rib was tougher than leather, and each bite took quite a bit of effort to saw through it and chew it. It was not worth the $37 I paid for that 12 oz piece of tough meat. In hindsight, I should have sent it back.
My wife said the key lime pie was average and was nothing to write home about.
We would go back again so that my wife can have her chicken pot pie and and I can try some other dishes, but I will never eat another steak at the Daily Grill ever again.
Update 2/23/20: We gave it another try. After waiting 20 minutes for a waitress/waiter to take our drink order, I told the hostess and she said asked me to be patient and the waitress will be with us soon. After another 10 minutes of waiting, we decided to leave and eat at the food court. We told the hostess that we were leaving and all she said was “OK” with no apology whatsoever. The restaurant was not busy and had plenty of open tables. Having to wait 30 minutes without even being served waters is ridiculous. Downgrading...
Read moreJust ate dinner here with my family. I had at least 2 shards of glass in my iced tea. Now I know accidents happen and I know that was not on purpose. I drank my iced tea and something came up my straw. I thought it might have been a seed from the lemon in my drink. When I spit it out it was a shard of glass. When I looked into my drink there was at least a inch size piece of glass in my drink. When my parents and I told the waiter, he acknowledged it but his attitude about it seemed like it was “whatever”. He responded “what do you want?” There was no need to respond that way. I’m not blaming anyone for there being glass in my drink because I know that’s not on purpose. But that is not what you would respond to someone who is telling you there is a problem with their drink. Eventually he told us that he informed the manager which I did see him speak to the manager. The manager however NEVER once came up to our table to address it. I’ve worked in customer service for 10 years and health care for going on 7. If there is a problem in your establishment you as a leader and higher up should address it and check on the individual. Especially when it’s something as dangerous as someone almost swallowed glass shards in their drink. He not once came to our table. The waiter later told us the manager just removed my meal off our ticket. I wasn’t looking for my meal to be comped in anyway. I brought this up because something dangerous like that I do not want happening to anyone else. That is something that could be deadly. Extremely disappointing that the manager didn’t even bother to address it. ...
