Came in from Canada to see this wicked brewery. In their web site it states touring time on Thursday at 5:30, unfortunately staff stated to us there was a booked private tour from 6:00 - 7:30. We described our situation that we from Canada and made this stop part of our trip. Staff continue to tell us that there are other breweries in town that would be preferred when we made this specific brewery part of our trip. Decent staff but very disappointed with what I would assume to be management as we only wanted a quick peak at the works and the cultural portion as beer is our passion. The beer is okay I might add but the one star is towards the fact A.) We came at 5:30 and the private tour is at 6:00 (tours are a half hour) and B.) what I would assume to be the manager wouldn't even associate with us even when we requested to possible speak with him in order for a quick tour... All in all we will not be making this our number one stop after this experience nor purchase merchandise as planned from this brewery as we experience much more pleasant brewery's on our stay here (as staff here recommend). I rarely make negative reviews but this is one I will never forget...
Read moreI love great beer. This isn't. Oh, it's passable and drinkable but GREAT.. Nah. The Osiris is full of off flavors, and almost every beer falls short of BJCP style and flavor guidelines.
The best offering is probably the Wee Mac, which is malty and lightly sweet, like a Scottish Wee Heavy should be but the alcohol content is too high. It more closely resembles a Scottish Export Ale rather than the WEE HEAVY that the name seems to imply. Even at that, the ABV is higher than the recommended 3.9 to 5% for the Export style. Wee Heavy should be a session ale with a max of 3.9%.
The Cream Ale is very light at only about 5.3% would impress most Miller Lite Drinkers. A nice light lawnmower beer that hardly comes close to such national examples as Little Kings and Genesee Cream Ale.
Sun King is in it for volume sales and they aim mostly at the young domestic beer drinker who wants to drink local beers. Unless they make offerings that are cleaner examples of craft brewing, they won't keep the beer connoisseur coming...
Read moreI attempted to go here for dinner on a Monday night. There was no sign or person to tell us it was open seating so we waited several minutes before sitting at a table in the bar. We were told the devour Indy menu was one night only by the waiter event though the event is on until February. The flight options were not explained until attempting to order with our waiter noting it was misleading. So I asked that he come back so I could decide, took over 20 minutes for him to come back. When he came back he commented "I assumed you would have gone to the bar and ordered by now". May have been a side comment but it came off rather rude and we sat at a table to receive service. We were planning on eating here as well but at that point we had our drinks and left. The worst part is the place was rather empty, if it was busy we could have excused the wait but more than half the...
