Richard G. Lugar Plaza — Attraction in Indianapolis

I am not going to lie. I am a Lugar fan, whether Mayor Lugar, Senator Lugar, Professor Lugar or Mr. Lugar. Full disclosure.

But whatever you think of the legacy of Richard Lugar, it is hard to deny that he was an impactful person (for better or worse, you can decide).

The plaza, in addition to being an oasis downtown with park benches, swings and modern art installations, is a great place to rediscover the man through a statue and a plethora of plaques detailing his life (almost too much detail, perhaps)

Pro Tip Should nature pay a call while you are at the plaza, visit the restrooms in the Transit Center across the street. Conversely, if you have significant wait time for a city bus, why not cross the street and delve into a little bit of Indiana and...

The past few days I've been greeted by a head groundskeeper stating that I am not allowed to walk my dog in the plaza because they are trying to get the grass in better shape. This directly contradicts the plaque with the plaza rules that welcomes dogs on leashes. There isn't any sort of signage, temporary or otherwise, stating that dogs are no longer allowed.

It would be a shame to lose access to one of the few good green spaces in the city. Can anyone provide any clarification? If dogs are no longer allowed, there is some signage that needs to be corrected and put up. I'd also be curious to hear about how this is going to...
