Heart in Mind Tattoo — Attraction in Jersey City

I got a pretty specific and detailed cover up/addition from Marc at Heart In Mind Tattoo and it was one of the most fun experiences I’ve had at a tattoo shop! This is my third tattoo and it was done in my left inner bicep so it was decently uncomfortable, but you have to suffer a bit for anything that is worth it! And boy was it worth it!! As a cover up/addition, it was very difficult to conceptualize what I wanted and what Marc could do, but I trusted him and I am ECSTATIC with the result. The whole process, from emailing my questions, scheduling my appointment, tattoo day, and aftercare instructions was fantastic. The team answers quickly and the studio is very clean. Marc is amazing and genuinely wanted to know what I wanted. Even though cover ups require specific things (like double the surface area, optional colors, etc) to be a complete cover up, Marc took everything I had in mind and made it real. I love it! In addition to tattooing and piercing, Marc has an apprentice and watching him teach her and show her how to cover up a difficult tattoo like mine showed me how professional Marc is and how much he cares about perpetuating the culture of body art and art in general. I love this shop. The staff is awesome, I love all their personalities. The first time I came here was for a tattoo my wife was getting with Jain. Jain is so friendly and made my wife feel very comfortable while getting her tattoo. She got an outline of the country she's from with her City colored in. Jain did an amazing job; when I saw how perfect the lines were I was amazed. Even the tiny details show up. We went back to get my tattoo. I got it with Marc the head artist. I uploaded pictures, it's a rose whip from an anime cartoon I love (Yu Yu Hakusho). He was very friendly and professional. I let him freehand my tattoo and he did an amazing job. He was excited to do my tattoo which made me feel excited to let him do it. The atmosphere was great and the customer service was awesome all the way to the door. My wife also got another tattoo with Jain on this visit which Jain freehanded also. This shop is full of skills and talent and they're not cocky at all like other shops I've visited. Me and my wife will continue going here. I will continue filling up my arm with all my tattoo ideas and my wife will be doing all her tattoos here also. Where do I begin?! I wish I could give a higher rating than 5 starts. There's a reason this amazing studio has the amazing reviews it does. The studio its self is clean and neat, the staff are all very friendly. My best friend and I decided to get matching tattoos. I've known her since I was only months old, here we are 27 years later. Although we wanted something simple, we still wanted to find the perfect place. THIS PLACE IS IT! My friend flew all the way in from Germany where we are from, although I've lived in the states for years. This was a special moment, it being my friends first tattoo. From the beginning the lovely women at the front desk made us feel welcome. We had our tattoos done by Jainee. SHE IS AMAZING! She was so kind and patient, helping us pick a size of tattoo, as well as explaining thoroughly and slowly so I could translate to my best friend in German. She was so clean and organized. I mean CLEAN. Her tattooing skills are impeccable. We had simple tattoos, but her lines were crisp, precise, and just perfect. She knows what she's doing. I wouldn't go anywhere else to get a tattoo.
