I normally don’t write reviews but, I feel compelled to share my experience at this salon as a first time client. This review isn’t intended to bash but, hoping the business owner takes the constructive criticism and applies it to their business in a positive manner.
Tardiness and Lack of Communication:
As a first time client, I was not pleased that the hairstylist that was selected was not on time. I arrived at the salon for a ponytail. My appointment was with the owner Patricia, at 10am which was initially pushed from 9am. She did not arrive until 11:47am. No apology whatsoever and no call to either reschedule or cancel so I could make other plans. Anywho, the hairdresser that was there, assisted with my wash and conditioning although they had other clients booked (only reason why 2 stars has been given. They work very very hard and I hope they are compensated greatly!). I was quoted $175 for the hair for a ponytail which I thought was outrageous. I ended up having to go to a beauty supply store prior to being treated.
Lack of Compassion:
After spending 2hrs roughly waiting for her, she now takes her regulars even though I was the first one in the salon and had a booked appointment! She even took a guy who didn’t even schedule the right appointment type. I was at the salon for a total of 5 hours for a ponytail. She passed me off to other hairstylists like a hot potato. The atmosphere of this salon is definitely on survival mode and not customer service. My intention of coming to this salon was for the black hair experience I so longed for in JC after leaving NYC.
Lack of Concept and Knowledge of New Age Hairstyle Techniques: I bought two packs of hair for my ponytail. She asked me if had products…10th red flag of the day. She proceeded to double the tracks and wrap around the base of ponytail…two packs of hair worth. The current techniques in the hair world are created for efficiency and customer satisfaction, giving them a realistic and seamless look. I recommend taking the time and seeing how you can apply techniques of this new age for your clients. Youtube is a great resource. Needless to say, I ended up taking out the entire style and wearing a wig for the wedding I was attending as a bridesmaid. $160 down the drain including hair bought for appointment.
Overall:
Time is of the essence. No one wants to wait 5 hours to get their hair done, a ponytail at that. Although it may be busy, please do not lose the significance of customer service. If you’re completely booked, do not take walk-ins. Do not over book, it diminishes your salons rapport.
As a first time client, I was discouraged and was actually more stressed out when I left because after 5 hours- my hair was not satisfactory. I knew I did not like the style but could not spare another minute as I had other wedding appointments to attend. I also did not want to be that customer to be unruly. I don’t think I should have paid full price for such a poor experience but, I’ll leave that in God’s hands…
Best of luck to you and...
Read moreI came in for a consultation and told them that I wanted, honey blonde hair dye. The lead hairstylist told me that she doesn't use bleach and that she'll be able to brighten my hair to the color, I wanted it without it. That was a lie. I came in the next day. She asked me to show her the color again. I showed her the honey blonde that I wanted out of the book and she told me that she's not gonna do that color for me because she doesn't use bleach, after just telling me the day before that she knows a way to get me to the blonde color I wanted, without bleach. I don't understand why the day before she would tell me that she knew a way to get my hair to the blonde I wanted without bleach and then when I come in to actually get my hair colored, she told me that she can't achieve that color without bleach. I had no choice, but to go with a darker blonde that they pointed out to me in the book. They ended up dying my hair ginger, which was nothing like the color that I originally wanted, honey blonde or the darker blonde that they told me they were going to dye my hair to. Then, when I complained about it, she tried to twist my words and say that I chose this color, which I didn't. On the Instagram page I seen that they use bleach for other people's hair, but I guess they didn't use it for mine because I'm African American. If she didn't know how to get my hair to the color that I wanted, she should've just declined servicing me instead of being money hungry and acting like she had a way to do it when she didn't. Im unsatisfied would never go here again. Also when I was trying to tell them the color I wanted they were very aggressive with how they spoke and had a lot of attitude for no reason. DO...
Read moreI had a very bad experience here! I went in for a sew-in and made it very clear what I was getting over the phone. When I entered the salon Patricia told me she was unaware I wanted a removal of previous extensions first.
I figured it was just miscommunication and decided to stay. She started my hair at 12pm and didn’t finish until 6. Even if she didn't know I needed a removal, she had another client come in at 12, meaning I still would have been waiting as she clearly double-booked.
She attended to everyone else that came in and left me in the chair. To top it off, she had a nasty attitude. I will never go back and I advise others to do the same and stay away.
Her claim that the detangling process took two hours is ridiculous, as there is no way she would have been able to time it, with the constant starting and stopping of my hair. Even then, as a stylist you should communicate with the client about their hair, its needs, and areas of concern. That wasn't done, which validates my point about her attitude and lack of professionalism.
As others have noted, Patricia will leave your hair and go work on other clients. She has no respect for your time. There is absolutely no excuse a client should be sitting in the chair for SIX HOURS for extensions. Even if you have an appointment, she will not follow it. Prices always change, regardless of what she tells you over the phone. This is the worst salon in Jersey. Find somewhere else to get your hair done if you are considering. The environment is hostile and...
