Capital School Playground — Attraction in Juneau

There are a couple swings and a play area for 2 - 5 year olds as well as one for older children.

Each area has a slide and some structures to climb on. There is a gaga ball court and sandbox as well as a couple picnic tables and trash cans.

The center area of the park is wide open and a great space to run around. There is usually a great puddle which my daughter loves to splash in.

The Empty Chair Memorial is located in the park. It is dedicated to the 53 Juneau residents of Japanese origin who were forcibly relocated and imprisoned in inland internment camps during World War II, as well as to recognize Juneau citizens for their helpful response when the families returned...

A must see for those for whom the WWII mass evacuation and incarceration is a part of their Japanese American experience or for those who simply want to see a piece of Alaskan history that is relatively unknown.
