I got married here in the spring of 22’ and I do not recommend it. My husband and I were planning this wedding from out of state, which was already difficult to navigate through the Catholic Church, and received no help.
We never got to meet our priest in person ahead of our ceremony. In order to even meet our priest at all, Father Paul Turner, I had to request a zoom meeting. I found this odd and impersonal for the amount our “donation” cost to marry here. THEN Father Turner does not show to our rehearsal at all, where the coordinator kept saying he was coming, but running behind. The on site coordinator gave directions to my wedding planners for us to be at the cathedral 10min prior to the rehearsal. All the doors were locked, it was freezing out, and we were past our start time when I started rounding the building to knock on the doors, and she opened the office door confused I was even there, as if her phone inside there wasn’t going off from my planners calling. We never received an apology.
To top it all off, the ceremony in my eyes was ruined due to above factors and day-of issues. We took photos at the church ahead of the ceremony where the priest again wasn’t present. But of course the on site coordinator opened the doors and let everyone in to see me at the alter, in my dress, which spoiled every planning detail of mine and will always remember this. After getting upset, my wedding planners had to take over to remedy, and again the coordinator said not a word, except after the ceremony when she summoned us back into the sanctuary as we were about to exit the doors to our guests to take a picture with Father Turner. In that time our guests were freezing and that’s all I heard about the next day, not any of the good things.
Overall this was a horrendous experience. I had such high hopes for such a beautiful, expensive, church, and was so terribly let down, as is my now husband. I do not recommend this church to any couples looking for a...
Read moreWe attended a candlelight performance last night. Even though we contacted the church the first of the week about parking and were assured there was parking for the event, when we got there over 20 minutes before the performance started, the lot was full. We were directed by the parking attendant to one of the many lots nearby that charged. We finally found a spot within walking distance, and once we were inside the church, there was a notice in the lobby that parking was available in the Folly Theater lot. We're not sure why this information was not conveyed to the parking attendant. Several other people appeared not to get that message either. Also, once we got inside and ask for a restroom, we were told there were "plumbing issues" and none was available. The sanctuary was fairly full, and it seems very odd that no restroom facilities were available for a concert that lasted over an hour. The music was amazing and sounded wonderful, but the acoustics for voices was very distorted and had a lot of reverberation, so we were unable to understand the woman who introduced the quartet or the information about the pieces that members of the quartet discussed prior to playing each piece. The concert itself was very enjoyable, but all of the other extenuating circumstances made us decide we won't be attending any more events at...
Read moreThis is by far the worst church ever. It is super annoying. Living right next door, I hear the bells go off every Saturday and Sunday for 20 minutes nonstop. The times they ring are listed below:
Saturday: 2:15pm - 2:30pm 4:15pm - 4:30pm 7:40pm -7:50pm
Sundays from: 8:40am - 9 am 10:50am - 11am 11:50am - 12pm 7:45pm - 8pm
I feel extremely disrespected at the fact that I tried to contact them many times and just having them deny that it is their church bells. These people do not care about you or your complaints - they only want your money to continue the church bells ringing at all costs. My request to have the bells not ring during the wee hours of the morning was extremely rude and unn-Catholic, especially coming from church people. I was hoping they would be more approachable... which they were the complete opposite. This one act reflects badly on all Catholics in the world. I have completely lost all respect to this religion, unless they can prove me wrong by not playing the bells before 10AM, as I work during the week and would highly appreciate sleeping in for TWO simple days...
