Yesterday, we went on the sunset island adventure. Their advertising is very misleading on what you actually do and see.
We were on an overcrowded boat (couldn't even walk around), our boat also was not Catamaran and the kayaks/boards were on the boat with us taking up space (not up top like there photos show). All the drinks were in coolers, taking up space as well. There was 16 of us sitting inside and 15 in the front part of the boat. You have to squeeze past people and the kayaks/boards just to get to the bathroom.
Their lunch was cold chicken strips, fruit, veggies, crackers, a very smoky cracker dip, and some kind of bean dip. Nothing like they advertised. You can drink whenever you want and as much as you want, but once you start drinking, you're not allowed to snorkel/kayak.
Once we got to the snorkeling spot, I was shocked at how bad the experience was. We do a lot of snorkeling and have our own gear but forgot it on this trip. We only saw fish, the water was so cloudy (we were told it was clear). I couldn't get good videos/pics of the fish. If that was clear, I would hate to see what it looks like on a bad day. The coral reef didn't look like what they advertised either. My husband kept having trouble with his goggles because of his facial hair. He kept getting water in them, and they kept fogging up. We have no issues with our personal goggles. We got 45 mins to snorkel.
The captain did take use to see dolphins. We saw a mom and baby. But we stayed back to give her space. (This wasn't on our trip), so that was cool. Then we went where the private beach was supposed to be. It was under water. No laying on it, no sunset laying on it. I was disappointed. I asked the captain, and he said no beach because it was not low tide. I was looking forward to that beach and watching the sunset on it. Nope!
We got to kayak for literally 15 mins. I took photos, and my timeline shows 15 mins (that's disappointing). The guide took us to the island and back, and that was it. No exploring in kayakes. Another disappointment. We are huge kayakers, and I was excited to do this adventure. After kayaking, we still had 45 mins left to (drink). I do not drink, so my husband and I were snorkeling while everyone else was standing in the water drinking. I found a couple of shells, but that was it (no fish).
We started to head back to the dock, and the captain stopped to watch the sunset. The sunset was behind a bunch of clouds, so we got to miss that, too. (Not the captains fault) the boat was so crowded that I didn't even get a picture of the sunset as I was on the wrong side of the boat and would have gotten others in the photo, or have to stand over someone to get a photo.
We got back to the dock 30 mins early, and as we left, they gave us a cookie. The captain was nice and had a good sense of humor.
It's very sad that I am writing a negative review. We do a lot traveling and do stuff like this on all our vacations, and this one is the first disappointing adventure we have had. We will not be using this company again. There are other snorkel and kayak companies around the area I think would have been a better fit for us, and I could watch the sunset on land.
I can not upload videos so I took some screenshots of some of the videos. Please do your research and make sure you will be happy with your adventure before booking (do not go by their advertisement like we did).
Overall, it was a huge...
Read moreVery disappointed! I spent well over $800 on this adventure for me and 3 teenage foster kids. I wanted to give them a once in a lifetime opportunity but was mistaken that it could it happen w/Fury.
First, the packed 70+ of you on a Cateraman sailboat where it’s labeled 38 passengers total allowed. There was hardly anywhere to sit besides on the floor. The crew was quite rude. The would yell at guests to pay attention or don’t do that. There is a way to talk to people and most these people are brand new to tue ocean so talking to them rudely unacceptable. The snorkeling gear and life jackets are old and need to replaced. I drove to the Keys and I should of brought my own gear, supplies and more. They also should dip the face mask in baby shampoo to prevent fogging. The food was ok and water seemed to scarce. It would of been nice if they had someone going around with water. Sailing is not sailing they raise the sail and engines are quite loud and you don’t get the true sailing affect. I would recommend booking one of these down in the USVI they take customer service and high class to another level and believe it or not cheaper than Fury. The small boat that takes you parasailing more water really??? We are on the water all day. The snorkeling was not beautiful at all the water was way to rough and I am experienced at snorkeling. My teenagers didn’t enjoy it all. One of my sons was stung and no first aid, so I would recommend bringing your own first aid kit to combat stings and such. There is no parking so be prepared to fork out $40 and a half mile walk to the Fury boat. Also, you will in line in the hot sun waiting to check in and go through the water bottle you brought. They didn’t check the boat license my boys took until right score they got on a ski, seriously you didn’t think of checking this and wasting valuable time they kids have on the water they only have 10-15 min tops. Ridiculous. Overall I would not recommend Fury. The water obstacle course, falling apart, handles missing, very slimy and dirty. We did try Sebago later that week and wow what a difference. My teenagers had more fun and more time on the water. The rudest comment I heard was the Fury older employee giving direction on the banana boat to my family of 4 and the kids were excited they had never been on one. He says “ (loudly) Hey, I’m not here for tips I’m here for you guys to listen to me and do what I say!” Oh really, the have tips signs and talk about gratuity the whole time. Maybe saying “hey guys I know you are excited but let me run over a few items and then you guys can talk and enjoy yourself.” Truly need to do some public relations training with there workers. I brought $100 cash to tip the parasailing, jet ski/banana boat, and “ sailing” crew. I did tip $20 to the boat crew and $20 to “sailing” crew. Nothing to jet ski or banana boat. Nobody talks to my kids like that. Also, have water for your guests all the time. We are in a boat and unless you allow me to bring a cooler with waters packed to the rim, please do better.
The life jackets falling apart was just awful I watched my kids like a...
Read moreMy cousin, best friend, and I booked a jet ski 27 mile excursion in Key West for Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 2:30-4:00 p.m. The three of us are experienced jet skiers and were looking forward to the afternoon expedition. We received a group discount for booking three individual jet skis. Unfortunately, the abridged 13 mile version did not meet our satisfaction. At first, the strong winds prevented us from boating the Atlantic Ocean and visiting major tourist destinations such as Southernmost Point, Mallory Square, Lighthouse, Smathers Beach, and others. The guides realized that the weather might be an issue, so they chose to cruise the Gulf side. After leaving the harbor, my friend, who was the last in line, signaled the guide behind him for assistance when his hat flew off. The assistant guide approached him and made no attempt to briefly circle around and locate his hat. Second, upon arriving at our first stop, the lead tour guide's jet ski failed to start. We sat there waiting for his replacement jet ski as it began to rain lightly. Due to this delay, we missed more planned stops as the weather in that area deteriorated. Third, as we returned to the harbor starting place, the jet skier in front of me paused and held up the group in line formation. The assistant tour guide directed me to turn off my motor at the No Wake zone's entry point, which was a short distance from the dock. The turbulent surf pushed my jet ski towards the concrete seawall, and I attempted to prevent the contact with my leg, but the water was too strong and damaged the side of the jet ski. After restarting the engine to move away from the wall and prevent further damage, I rejoined the line and headed towards the pier. After parking, I notified the assistant guide about the incident, and he took a photo and messaged it to his operations manager, who was off-site. Based on the photo, the manager determined that the fiber glass damage cost $215, including tax. I described what happened, and the lead guide pulled me aside and agreed that I should never have been told to turn off the engine before entering the harbor and driving up to the dock due to wave conditions. I had the option of waiting an undetermined amount of time for the manager to arrive and resolve the matter, or have my card charged for the damage and leave. Due to the limited time, I chose to pay and then follow up with Fury. A few days later, I contacted their customer support, and the representative was understanding, and after consulting with their manager, they would consider issuing a reimbursement for the damage. My follow-up contact with the manager was unpleasant, and her stance was that had I selected the optional liability insurance, I would not have had to pay for the damage out of pocket. She refused to take responsibility for the directions given by the assistant tour guide which violated their own protocol and caused the incident. Overall, the tour was mediocre; the guides were dull, and the support staff were unhelpful. I certainly would not recommend anyone to participate in their jet ski tour from Opal...
