If you need ski boots THIS IS THE PLACE! I can't tell you how impressed I was with Chris and his expertise, but I'll try! I am very green when it comes to skiing , so I made sure to translate that to Chris when I walked in, expressing that I really didn't need anything fancy.
He made sure to take his time with me, measuring my feet, calves, and even the flexibility of my ankles! He made sure to get every piece of feedback from me as possible, and even helped to custom make me a pair of insoles for my new boots (this was even before I had showed any interest in buying them). He never tried to over-sell me on anything (I'm in retail, so I really appreciated that), and genuinely cared that I was comfortable, and happy with my potential purchase.
After putting together the insoles, he even had me stand on a machine which could tell where various pressure points could potentially be an issue. I wish I could do that with every pair of shoes I purchase! Another great thing was the boots he chose were 30% off because of their end of season sale, and all the customization were part of the purchase price! If you're thinking about going to Surefoot, don't! Northern Ski works will take better care of you, and won't drain your bank account in the process.
I really appreciate all the care and effort Chris put towards my boots, and couldn't recommend him or Northern Ski Works anymore! So happy with my purchase, and I can't wait to get some more use...
Read moreI had wonderful bootfitting experience here. I'm not a sportsman, but really like speed and control. On the other hand I have quite wide flat feet, so I cannot get 92-mm plug boots. My tradeoff was stretching out 96-mm wide Head RS140. Rich Flynn did a great job on fitting those boots for me. He did initial series of shells punching when I purchased boots, and the second series of grinding+punching next day after I hit the slopes. All fitting was included in the price, furthermore I was told that I could come back later (e.g. next year) for additional free adjustments. Rich also created nice custom foot bed, with flat surface on the bottom making better contact with the boot. Insoles were not included, but they give a good discount if you buy them together with their boots. Plus I got complimentary heel lifts. I was told the total price in advance, and I was happy with it, but when I was paying Rich gave me additional "previous-season" discount, which was really unexpected and nice. All-in-all I got very stiff and comfortable boots for a very reasonable price. Next day I didn't even want to put off the boots during the lunch) Strongly recommend this place, and Rich Flynn as the...
Read moreI've been to all of the ski shops in Killington over the years and I can honestly say Northern Ski Works is the best among them.
Some of the staff members like Scott Noble are the finest in the ski business and full of knowledge. If you need to buy skis (or need some tuning or repair) he's your guy. He also remains the only person in New England that was willing and able to fix a very badly damaged ski of mine that other shops claimed was beyond repair.
Another great aspect of this shop is their quality rental equipment. I'm no longer a renter myself, but my friend rented from them this past weekend and they had nice Technica boots and Volkl skis in their regular fleet. Normally, at most shops, I'd advise opting for demo skis and boots for a good experience, but that's not necessary here.
Lastly, they have a large selection of quality ski boots and knowledgeable boot fitters (some who have been with this location for years). As any good skier knows- experience and selection count for a lot when it comes to boot fitting.
Overall, I'd strongly recommend this shop for new skis, boot fitting, tuning, rentals, demos...
