With the stores slowly starting to open back up, my daughter and I thought that we would do a little shopping. We thought that we would support some the small local businesses that were open today.
We spent the morning shopping, just enjoying that we were out of the house and not at work. We ended up at a store called Repeat Boutique off of Kingston Pike here in Knoxville, TN. Honestly, it is a cute little store, but what happened today just absolutely disgusted me. I walked around the store oblivious while browsing. My daughter on the other hand noticed that the older sales ladies that worked at this store were talking about her. I don't know exactly what they were saying neither did Megan, but she knew it was not very flattering. Every time she came near one of the sales ladies, they would gather and start whispering about her. She distinctly heard one say "that's not right" as she continued to stare at her. She was so upset by this that she opted to cash out on the other side of the store so she wouldn't have to be near them.
For those that know my daughter, all know that she is a beautiful young lady, who dresses fashionably and looks amazing with or without make-up. Today, she happened to be wearing a tube top and sweatpants with no make-up. So she wasn't dressed to the nines like she usually is. She opted to not wear make-up today because her face is breaking out due to the face mask that she wears at the hospital that she works at day in and day out.
I don't know why these horrible women thought it was okay to talk about my daughter or judge her in any way shape or form. Who are they to even act as if they are better than she is? I would think that these women would be thankful that we were even in there spending our money to support their local business! The one saving grace from that visit was the young lady that was our cashier. She was kind and very sweet. Sadly, she has to work under these women that she should be able to look at as potential mentors. Instead, it appears that she is working with adult/ elderly bullies. I hope and pray that she does not pick up their poor and judgmental attitudes. I was so disgusted with their behavior that we ended our shopping excursion and went home.
My daughter read a few reviews of the Repeat Boutique when we got into the car and found that there were other reviews from customers that experienced the same thing. With that said, I will NOT be supporting this local business ever again. Local businesses depends on their customers. It is these customers that refer others to shop their store....
Read moreYesterday I visited Repeat Boutique for the first time. There was lots of merchandise and some very nice items which I would have enjoyed buying. When I entered the store there were very few customers in the store so if was not as if the staff was swamped with people needing attention. There were two sales clerks talking and putting away items. No one even looked up when I entered. I browsed from section to section, went into the section on the left and browsed around. I was in the store for at least 30 minutes looking at the merchandise - not one soul even acknowledged that I was there. Clerks were talking back and forth to each other (at least 4-5 clerks it seemed) and sorting out merchandise. No one even spoke. There was one customer looking in the jewelry case and one clerk said to her, "If you see anything you would like to see, I can take it out of the case." Still she never looked my way. I purposely moved over to the jewelry case to see if she would acknowledge that I was looking in the case as well. Still nothing! I have been told I am attractive, poised, well groomed, polite, etc. and I was not dressed in jeans or sweats. I was dressed business casual. I have a masters' degree in business and I have worked in business for over 30 years so I know what makes a successful business. First rule of service is to be friendly, welcoming, inviting, and make your customer feel important. Your customers for the most part were invisible. As for me, I will never set foot in your store again. Obviously, the staff has not been trained in customer service. And, I am happy to advertise your "excellent (not) customer service to all my friends! Your...
Read moreI went into this store almost a month ago and talked at length with the sales person about their procedures and what kind of items they would accept. I made two appts back to back since I have a lot of items. She gave me plenty of hangers to take with me and a woman who appeared to be in charge helped as well. I arrived for my scheduled appt at 10a on a very rainy Saturday morning. I spent several hours in advance making sure each item was ironed, clean, damage free and great condition. I had over 100 clothing items - all good name brands such as Chicos, Antonio Melano, Alex Marie, Halston, etc. I had approx 20 very nice Coach and Brighton bags (no fakes) in pretty good shape and a ton of costume jewelry. Each piece was meticulously cleaned and paired with matching earrings and any other matching pieces. My husband I loaded up the car in the pouring rain and made the 45 min trip. When I arrived I was greeted by an older sales woman who had short hair with blonde highlights. She was so unwelcoming and nasty I immediately was on the offense. She announced she was not accepting items at this time in a very hostile and rude tone. Inside I felt crushed and humiliated. I pointed out that I had an appt scheduled well in advance and she actually argued with me before she looked at the schedule. When she did pull the schedule she did acknowledge the appt but stood her ground that she was not taking any items. She finally agreed to “look” at my clothing items only. At this point I was done and really just wanted to leave. I will be donating all of the items to a dress for success charity which helps women get back on their feet. I certainly don’t need the money...
