when we first got seated, I had high expectations. I’ve been craving a high-quality delicious authentic Mexican taco for a while and while on vacation in Laguna, I was thinking this would be the perfect hole in the wall spot. To say the least I was wrong. being greeted at the counter with very lazy inattentive workers, they look like they were there as volunteers rather than paid workers. The workers looked like they could care less about my food and me as I got seated. I looked over at the menu and saw these absurd prices almost $20 for three tacos and a side of flavorless rice and some black bean “slop”. (both which tasted horrid) I ordered the chips, salsa, and guac, with two tacos along with my sister who ordered the three tacos in the side combo meal, it took about 15 minutes for food to come, and when it came, it did not look very promising. The chips in the guac and the salsa came out first and the salsa looked putrid. It looks like tomato sauce with absurd amount of pepper poured into it. it was extremely watery and was almost dark brown. The chips were stale and flavorless and cold. The guac was made out of three ingredients, avocados, a tiny bit of jalapeño, and a ton of diced tomatoes. there was absolutely no seasoning whatsoever. I don’t understand how fast food chain Chipotle’s guac is about 30 times more flavorful and tasty than whatever that slop was that they gave me. I ordered the Carne Asada tacos and they were good, but after eating the two tacos, I was still left extremely hungry but already I knew I couldn’t order any more because I was already paying an insane price for only two small 6 inch tacos. I tried my sisters Mexican rice and it had no flavor whatsoever. I don’t understand how they made that rice taste worse than plain rice. We didn’t even bother to touch the black bean slop. would’ve been nice if the location was cleaner inside, and the workers were actually more attentive and welcoming to the customers, and the prices were decreased by 50% for the quality of the food that they give you… if you’re considering the spot, I’d opt for looking for an actual authentic Mexican...
Read moreI used to come here a couple of times a week for lunch and dinner with my family but NEVER again! The service has always been spotty but the food was at least decent. I placed a fairly large catering order for a family event we were hosting. Made sure to order within their 48 hour requirement and even decided to go in and do it in person to make sure they didn’t mess it up. Boy was I wrong! I get there at the time I requested to pick up the order, tell the girl at the counter I’m here for my catering order, she looks at me like a deer in headlights. Not a good sign. She goes in the back and comes back a few mins later with my order receipt to tell me they forgot about it and that it’s not ready...
No apologies, no how can we make this right. Just an excuse that someone forgot to do it and that it would be an hour or so before they could even get it ready. When I ask to speak with a manager, I’m told there is none on duty that day (Sunday). Unacceptable!! I immediately ask for a refund as I had to prepay the order. I’m told I would receive a call the next day from the manager with an apology and explanation and that he can refund it as no one there had the capability to do so… Needless to say I never received my promised phone call from the manager. Total coward. I actually don’t think they even have a manager as I’ve never actually seen one there. I did finally get a refund two days later but had to scramble to feed 30+ hungry people at my house last minute.
Do yourself a favor, NEVER place a catering order here. In fact don’t even bother going here. Don’t give them your money as they don’t seem to care at all about their customers. There’s plenty of other great Mexican places in town that will now get more of...
Read moreWe have eaten at the Newport Beach Wild Taco numerous times. The food is very good and staff has been friendly. On 7-27-21 at about 5PM we and another family put in a take out order via their website at the Laguna Beach location. We waited the 30 minutes or so it would take to be ready. When we arrived, the other families food was ready and we were told our order “didn’t go through” even though we paid. It took another 30 minutes waiting for our food. My wife saw a bag full of takeout food sitting on a nearby table and asked the waitress helping her if it was ours. Comes to find out it was and it was ready the entire time and just sitting there. We explained to the waitress our concerns about the food being cold and we were dissatisfied with their lack of due diligence checking on our order. The waitress offered us a “free drink”. We explained we already had drinks and she said, “well you already paid so I don’t know what to do”. We brought the food home and obviously it was not warm anymore. Our experience with this location was subpar. The restaurant made a mistake and they did not take steps to rectify it with the customer and basically just wanted us to go away. Thanks to google, we are able to make our voices heard so hopefully management will see this and help their employees potentially with a little bit of customer service training. I understand these restaurants get busy and things get stressful but what we experienced is unacceptable. This review will get a 2 star because the microwaved food still tasted...
