The Only Review You need to Read - Crystal Grand Music Theatre
I just went to the CGMT 2 nights in a row, 3/17 for Styx and 3/18 for The Outlaws. They were two different experiences, both great. This is a great venue.
For Styx it was a sold out show. Things moved slowly because there were a lot of people. We waited in line for a while to park. That went well. Then waiting by the side door to get in. The wanding slowed the line down. The security guys who were very nice told us there were three more entries with shorter lines. I did not believe him and when I finally got in, I saw there were no lines at the other doors. I should have listened. Drink lines were fine. There were vendors at the back of the theater to sell you drinks as well. I used the bathroom during a song and not the intermission. No line, and I could hear the music the entire time. We had seats in the back left under the balcony. Sound was great, the seats were comfortable, this is an awesome place to see a concert. When the concert was over, we got to our car fairly quickly. But since everyone left at once and it was sold out, it took 10 or 15 minutes of waiting our turn to get out. Police were directing traffic and it went fine. Overall, everyone there seemed to have a great time.
The Outlaws was not even close to a sold out show. I left earlier so I didn't have to wait, but there was no line. I got to pick my own parking spot this time, so I parked right by the exit. I walked right in the side entrance, no line, got wanded and was there an hour early. This time I had seats in the center, 8th row. Very nice. I made friends with the people sitting by me and had a great time. They had Chris Kroeze as opening act and he was awesome. Everyone loved him. Then the Outlaws played. They were terrific as well. The theater was not crowded and there were no lines for anything. Everyone was pleasant and again we had a great time. When the concert was over, I walked right to my car and there was no wait to get back on the road.
Notes:
If it's a sold out show things will move slower. You may have to wait to park and to get in. There are 4 entries/exits. If one has a long line try another. Leave more time to get in for sold out shows.
Wanding - Yes this can take a while for sold out shows. Chill out, they are doing the best they can. Could they add a second wanding person at each entry for sold out shows, probably.
$10 for parking is not bad. No place has free parking anymore.Suck it up.
The drinks are a deal. Two beers for $14 is fine. That's not even one beer in Vegas. Buckets are a better deal yet.
Security -- They were delightful. Every single person working there was nice. Give them a break and don't be a jerk to them.
Too loud for you? Bring ear plugs. That is allowed. No they are not turning it down for you. The rest of us...
Read moreSaw the Martina McBride concert 3/4/22, and I hope Martina or someone in her entourage sees this: my wife and I were so looking forward to this concert by an amazing singer and incredibly talented band. But the entire concert was torpedoed by an unbelievably, obnoxiously LOUD sound system. The first clue came when her opening act, the incredibly talented Bree Morgan (playing solo with only an acoustic guitar) was barely understandable due to the incredibly loud sound system. Both singers spoke during their sets of either writing or discovering songs whose lyrics expressed how they felt, yet when performing them, neither could be understood. How incredibly frustrating it was for audience members who were told a story about a song, only to not be able to make out anything they were singing! One thing that was definitely forgotten about in Martina's concert was that the majority of the crowd was over 50, with many much older. I'm sure all of them (like me and my wife) were thinking we'd hear the power and beauty of her voice. But instead, the music was so incredibly LOUD that Martina had difficulty, even with her voice, of rising above it. At times, she even seemed out of tune because she was trying to rise above the decibel level of the music. Never have I seen so many concert goers seemingly beaten into submission by such noise levels (not the fans, but the music). An entire row of elderly folks in front of us never applauded once the entire concert, and they left early like they were in a daze, unsmiling and clearly disappointed. One of them even warned us before the concert that the quality of it will depend completely on how the sound system is managed. He was right; he'd been to concerts there before and he was very unhappy when he left. This concert was supposed to be the highlight of our weekend, and instead it turned out to be the biggest disappointment. I've seen the Eagles, James Taylor, and a number of other talented singers in concert, and they certainly understood that the audience doesn't need to be bombarded with sound decibels bursting their ear drums in order to put on...
Read moreI'm a local. Been here more then I can count the venue and staff are always great. The 1 and only complaint i have is security. I mean WOW. I've been to concerts of 30k+ and security doesn't act this serious. Absolutely ridiculous. People step in the isle to get a photo and they are pushing you back in. Cant even stand there for 5 seconds for a photo, Crazy! You want me to pay $50-200 a ticket and I can't pop in the isle just to take a photo? I've been to more country concerts that I can count there and every single one I've been too the artist either tells the security they need to relax or they mock the security and make faces behind them while playing😂😂 At the end of the show the atrist will shake hands and some people will come up the isles and the security will literally scream at you to go back to your seats when the artist is clearly smiling and is totally okay with giving the fans high fives and fist bumps. If you don't want people to have a good time at your venue and you want them to sit the whole show. I would suggest bringing a different type of music and some smaller names. I'll still be back and the security is never rude. Just crazy how over the top they are🤷♂️ No reason it should be that serious. People are there giving you their money and time. The artist realizes it by wanting to interact with the fans and say their thanks....
