My first clue we were not going to be happy was when we called and wound up talking to a manager because the front desk person was so rude. Talked to a manger and got everything resolved so we thought. We had 5 different families going, we told them we all wanted to be by each other and we stayed in "Village" ( which is just a fancy word for the building not on the property) Well, they did accommodate us in that area and we all were in the same building and the same hallway, which was great. They put us in building 30 which is right across from the huge horse, which was also great not far to walk, however we had small children with us and the road we have to cross to get to the park is the main road and god awful busy. The rooms looked NOTHING like what they show on their website, the bath room was just a toilet and bath tub, it was so small, the tub was dirty (stained), the sink was outside the bathroom, which that was also stained and the counter top was stained as well. the floors which are fake wood were sticky, I was on my hands and knees cleaning the floor so we would not stick the floor or get god knows what the sticky stuff was on the floor on any of our belongings. The beds were so uncomfortable, there was no where to sit, you get 2 chairs that is it, guest have to sit on the beds. There was an extremely old TV in the room. There were spiders everywhere, we were laying in bed and spider crawled on us, we got food out of the fridge and there was a spider on our food, we walk out onto deck and there were spiders everywhere, and at night we were attacked by a bat. There was a dead bug on the wall in the bathroom and where we slept. My room was on the end which faced that busy street so you can only imagine the noise all night long, needless to say we did not get much sleep in that room. I could have stayed at Holiday for less money & got a better room
The park area was ok, the part of the park that was horrible was it was so extremely crowded, it was crazy. They need to have a limit how many people they allow in the park, they allow outside guest, meaning people that are not staying the hotel which is why they are so overly crowed. which is really not fair to the people that paid ALOT of money to stay in the hotel as this makes the lines longer & the stay frustrating because the people staying at the hotel get the same treatment and privileges ad people not staying at the hotel which really is not fair to the ones staying & due to this we did not even get to see the whole park or do everything at the park as the lines were so long for everything. They say the park is open until 10pm for hotel guest, yes the park is open however not all the rides are.
The indoor water honestly was not that great. it was really small and not alot to do, 1 pool which was not that big, only a couple water slides and one area for the small kids which is a really small area as well. The indoor theme park, again not that great and not really a lot to do there either.
The other thing that Mt. Olympus does not tell you is, if your staying off the property (in the villages) most of them are not near the water park and you will have to walk and depending on where you stay you may have to walk pretty far and there is a HUGE hill you have to walk either to get in or out one side of the park and the other side of the park.
I am not sure if it is like this when you stay in the hotel however when you stay in the "villages" you get charged an extra $22.00 a night for parking, use of the towels in the park area and other amenities, which they could not tell me what these were. I called to dispute these charges and spoke to supervisor again, and once again I was treated so rudely, I don't think I have ever been so worked up talking to a place a business before in my life, nor been treated so rudely & disrespectfully, and this was a supervisor.
I would not recommend anyone to stay in the run down cheap hotel rooms they have however the out door park, not too bad if you don't mind over...
Read moreThey had us in building 5 which isn't too far from the park (thank goodness), so it was only about a 6 minute walk to the water park. That was about the only positive thing I can say for Mt Olympus. For the amount of money our group spent, I thought the rooms would be a whole lot nicer (We've stayed at less expensive competitors in the past). Our room must have been a managers office at one time and therefore our room kept having people come to the door to ask for assistance. A few times people just walked right in when we had the door cracked open for the kids. Kind of scary when a couple of the people that walked in were DRUNK!!! On top of that, there was NO PEEP HOLE on the DOOR to see if the person knocking was one of our guests or a potential robber. Talk about NOT SAFE!!! The room had a couple couches that were comfortable and had a full size fridge. What the room didn't have was a table that more than 2 people could sit at. Why no table for a big group to sit at?? We had 4 kids and 6 adults and no where to really sit down and eat, unless sitting on beds is what they expect their guests to do. I think the HVAC system in the room needed to be serviced. Several people had stuffy noses and coughs while ONLY in the room (Room was cold though).
Now for the HORRIBLE room design. One of the bedrooms and a set of bunk beds in the main room, where right up against the room next door. Well right next door was their COMMON area and door. WHY would you do that?!? We were up all night from our neighbors (we did call security once, but did nothing really). All their conversations were CLEAR as day. The door banged against our wall all night long (I'm not sure how guests they packed into that room, but it was a small fiesta in there!). Why would you think that it's a good idea to do that?!? It would make sense to have the neighbors bedroom share our bedroom wall, NOT the main Living area. Ridiculous!! My wife is almost 7 months pregnant and needs her sleep. BOTH nights we (and 2 of the 4 kids) did not get more than 5 hours a sleep. We PAID WAY TOO MUCH for such a cheap and poorly designed room!! We would have been better off staying with a competitor with REAL hotel rooms and paying for a daily pass for the water-park etc.
My wife and I went with our friends for our last fun outing before the baby and Mt Olympus ruined our time in the Dells! We were so tired when we left that I didn't have the energy to go and complain to the front desk, not that they would do anything to make us happy. Shame on Mt. Olympus!! Get your act together. Buying cheap hotels and slapping your name on the building doesn't make it a nice hotel room!! I so wish we could have our...
Read moreWe paid $100 dollars more so we could stay in Hotel Rome which was the MTO hotel/lodging closest to the park. The room has the basics accept for the "COFFEE POT"!!! I assume because they want us to but their liberal burnt tasting coffee from Starbucks which is bad tasting. MTO start supporting LOCAL businesses!!! Find a local roaster!!
Now onto the "All inclusive" Deal. There are long lines All day just to receive a 2 hotdogs, chips & coleslaw or a separate line to receive 2 slices of pizza and pizza crust breadstick. And a 3rd line for soda. ONLY FROM 12-5PM In my opinion it's ridiculous to used bagged chips. Why not buy tortilla chips buy the case and add chilli and cheese to the line up with the hotdogs and get rid off coleslaw, gross. Offer a healthy option like raw carrots or apples. Hire more staff to expedite line traffic. Not enough trash cans overall! Trash was all over the grounds. Get better seating as there was a wait to find a table too! Perhaps long tables. The "chow hall" is what I'll call it because you feel like an animal being hearded around. It was too hot. Add some barn fans!! ;)
They say guests get to play in the park after hours till 10pm. Well they don't really tell you that they close some roller coasters and go carts. Not much is actually open or available after hours. All the shops and most food places are closed! Why not leave part of the water park open, add night lighting! The larger wavepool Posideons Rage was not very wavy like it used to be & they have the roofline pushed way back. It felt like it only kicked out a wave every 4min or so. The roller coasters are ruff. They really boggle for head. Painful. Get a blower and blow out all the leaves and me debris from last fall up by watersides and all over. There are long waitlines so the option of a VIP Pass for lines would be great. Also most of your food options are just too greasy! We need healthier options not raw foods wraps, spring roll etc. Not just junk! Please! Security: I didn't see cameras or security personal. Some teens are really disrespectful in wait lines. Swearing and tuning around in lines. I don't remember thus happening when I was growing up as well as people litering in a food line. Our culture has changed and is going downhill fast! Security is essential. Staff also drive 4wheelers and golf carts too fast in the evening. Over all it was fine experience. Disney world and parks at better quality In our experience.
Overall for the money, it's a fair bargain. $250 for 3 Adults/2teens (2 queen beds+ bunkbed) 1...
