TAQUERIA La Canasta Mexicana — Restaurant in Lake Delton

I'm fortunate enough to live 2 short blocks away from this gem. Until today, I was smitten with their lingua tacos. That has all suddenly taken a back seat because, yesterday, I learned that this small establishment also served barbacoa tacos...made with LAMB!! I was beyond excited but decided to curb my enthusiasm. In the Midwest, from where I originated, I have found lamb to rarely be prepared correctly, giving it a gamey, putrid taste, which is in no way comparable to the exquisite taste of lamb I learned to love in college, where it was expertly transformed into incredible bites of deliciousness by many of my wide-range of international friends. So today I gave them a try, armed with my new-found favorite condiment, Hot Sauce San-Luis, recommended by one of the staff. They were probably better than I could have hoped for. Little packages yumminess made of soft corn tortillas, bursting over with filling (there is no skimping going on here...ever), dressed only with a bit of cilantro and diced onions, an added small sprinkle of salt and my new bottle of hot sauce. As I was swooning my way through the two tacos, I found myself calculating the cost of my new, daily lunch splurge and adding the new figure to my budget. No problem...most everything else budgeted for, suddenly...

Our friends, the team, at this location were very personable and ordering was easy. Our friend that took our order was very patient with our kids, and food was delivered fast. After getting to the table we were immediately served with delicious chips, guacamole dip and salsa dip. The chips were different than we see at other places and we ate almost all of it, very unusual. Note the dip bowls seemed bigger than other places also. After receiving our food we ate our fill of this delicious food. I had the Fajitas Ranchera and after four burritos, I still had a full to-go container to take home. The family also had a lot left. The pricing is very reasonable. My family and I enjoyed our entire experience with our new friends and will go there as often as we are in the dells. TOTALLY RECOMMENDED BY MY...

I'm a fam of small business owners. And specifically was looking for a stores like this. I needed cooking oil for chilaquiles. Checked out there 3 iles wish I needed more stuff. Great selection, limited to the size of the Store.If you needed spices, salsas, tortillas, or just authentic mexican sweet's.They had Gansito's for crying out loud. And the brands they carry,I was impressed.Same brands I have here in Chicago. Then i tried there tacos because they sell meat here.Back home that's a good sign. They were well seasoned, the texture of the mest was also good.I had 5 other ppl try a taco. Guess what they all said it was different (from what were used to in Chicago)but they enjoyed the flavors it had. So next time you want to buy donuts,Don't! stop here and try there mexican...
