George Rogers - Kayak & SUP Rentals — Attraction in Lake Oswego

I have always been afraid of the water but decided to conquer a fear so my husband and I took the basic skills class and I absolutely loved it! We learned some techniques and even played a game at the end of the class. Afterwards there was a voluntary deep water re-entry and I even tried that too! I completely forgot I was afraid. It was so comfortable! My husband and I have since gone to the Alder Creek retail store to purchase PFD's and have taken another class at the Tryon Cove location. We look forward to other possible classes and definitely renting from this location until we find the kayaks we would like to purchase. The facility is very clean. The access to the water could use a little bit of work for ease of getting the kayaks up and down from the shore to the facility but it's not too bad if you have a little help. The George Rogers park is very nice. First time there for kayaking and for the park/beach. It was very busy and the staff were a little slow to greet us but the online reservation was easy and made check-in easy too! (You can print and fill out the waiver ahead of time). We rented 2 kayaks and a SUP. We were not told what to do on returning but quickly figured it out. The ramp is very small but easier to get to than the Tualatin river location. It’s a pretty area and may get calmer further up river but unfortunately, there were lots of boats on the water making waves- not fun for the paddle board. Tryon cove is a wonderful location, the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and an all around joy to interact with. The company 'alder creek' offers rentals classes and guided tours from this location. I personally took the basic kayak skills class as well as the elk rock guided tour and enjoyed both very much. As far as rentals go they have paddles, personal flotation devices, kayaks, canoes, and stand up paddle boards of all varieties and sizes.
