I'll give this location kudos for thinking of this idea because they probably fool a lot of people with it. I go thrifting often and visit multiple locations, so I caught on quickly. They have a separate section along the wall of the "sale of the week" color, but they have been retagging the pre-selected items on the walls with the new sale color every week so they're able to control what's on sale and they're able to keep all the items on the racks full price. The sale items are things no one wants like high school volleyball shirts or handmade shirts from someone's family vacation that are oddly specific. They're able to keep the name brand clothing full price because all they do is switch out the tags on the items they've pre-selected to be on sale every week. This is allegedly a "community-based not-for-profit organization", yet they seem to be after those profits so bad that they're willing to scam their own community. The community they're supposed to be helping, that's donating these items so they can make any money at...
Read moreUsed to good, now I can't even buy shoes for my kids because for some reason converse are minimum $25 for your up ones. Goodwill is trying to get the resellers but it's actually hurting the people who need it most. I have 7 kids and cannot afford name brand new clothes or shoes for my kids now I can't even afford to buy used name brand used clothes/shoes. Goodwill doesn't have any "good will" for anything except the for the bank accounts for the CEO or board of directors.. ECT. Now the people who relied on cheap used stuff for there kids to look and feel good about themselves are disposable to goodwill upper management. So mundelin, Ill and round lake goodwill charge the same as our more than EBAY!!! SO SAVE YOUR MONEY AND BUT FROM EBAY AT LEAST YOU GET A RETURN POLICY WITH EBAY AND YOU DON'T NEED TO BUY YOUR OWN SHOPPING BAG. Goodwill is a disgrace.... Punish poor people to get more money from eBay resellers....
Read moreI've been coming to this goodwill for years, and the staff have always been friendly and store fairly clean and tidy. In the last year, unbenounced to me, they updated the returns policy to no returns at all. I went in and picked up some already very overpriced nintendo Ds games. Now realize these employees do not test any of these electronics, and that's understandable given the volume of product they move they don't have the time. But when I spend $75 on one game for it not to work and the store offers zero returns or store credit policy, it's a slap in the face to a long-time customer. Idk what corporate is doing in the midwest area since other goodwill sectors allow for returns besides riding the coat tail of 2020 and crazy prices of everything, but this is unacceptable for...
