I have been visiting this Piper's location occasionally for over 30 years and it has always been my favorite place for the combo of pizza and games. I would have given it five stars except for one change to the business that has happened in the last couple years that I'm not a fan of. They stopped taking quarters and have moved to only accepting "fan cards".
It is a move most gaming companies (ie: Main Event, Dave and Buster's, etc) use but it's a system that is highly problematic in my opinion. It greatly increases plastic waste, prevents customers from following their spending as well, and gives customers yet another card to keep track of (while the hope is that you won't) in a world bombarded by them. The move feels like just a money grab and that saddens me.
From a purely business perspective, I can understand their need in this economy and after the hard hit of Covid to increase profits in order to stay afloat but I don't agree with the choices the business has made (regardless of that decision being corporate or the franchise location's) in order to achieve it. Raise prices and I understand, do away with package deals that are actual deals for the customers and I'm disappointed but understanding of that too. However, once you implement tools that work to fool the average customer and add to the garbage and plastic problems of our world, I'm not on board.
Upside for me was that, next to eating authentic New York pizza in New York City, THIS (Peter Piper's Pizza) has been my favorite pizza all my life and it remains so even now. There is just something special about the flavor of the sauce and pepperoni that I personally love and no other pizza business has ever matched. On top of that, the staff members, in my experience, have always been kind, helpful, and hard working which I greatly appreciate. I will surely continue to buy and enjoy the food at this franchise, but I can't say that I'll be using their gaming area nearly as often anymore (unless they return to taking...
Read moreThe one place I visited in the Leon Valley Shopping Center is Peter Piper Pizza. Went early around 11. They have a lunch buffet with several different pizzas and 2 dessert pizzas. They were all fresh. Staff is not very friendly. Stood at the register to pay for about 2 mins before someone came to give service while several other staff members walked around without at least greeting customers, acknowledging customers, or getting someone to help. Once I paid, and found my table, it was filthy, for having just opened. When I asked a staff member if it can be wiped down, the lady that helped at the register asked the individual that cleans tables to wipe it down, after arguing with her she came and did it herself and did not do a very good job. The game room area was kept clean and the staff at the toy area to cash in tickets was friendly. Once more people started showing up the cleaning staff began performing their job by readily picking up used plates and wiping tables. Regardless of this review Peter Piper will always be a fun place to visit, but maybe it will assist management bringing to their attention...
Read moreOur daughter celebrated her birthday dare and accommodations were made ahead of time and honored as well. We went to different peter piper pizzas and observed our daughters reactions, the game room, the staff, and even how soon the tables were cleaned after a party leaves. From there the best reaction and overall service came down to the Peter Piper on Bandera with the Culebra one coming in at a decent 2nd. Thats how we somewhat determined where her party was going to be at based on whether she...
