Surprised this place doesn't have worse reviews given the blatant price gouging. Either way that's not what I'm here for, I have been known to spend unreasonable amounts of money on bourbon.
My issue is when they plan for 4 days of bottle releases and can't manage their inventory properly enough to make it to day 3. THATS HALF! YOU DID 50% OF YOUR JOB. No updates online, no announcement posts since sold out, only posts listing still available. Given these products are 3x retail to begin with and were trickling out. It's almost like they had a change of heart and just kept the rest for themselves... or the distiller told them to stop overcharging, so the only way to sell them at that price is charge per pour.
By some random act of fate I decided to call and make sure they still had bottles before sitting out side their door for 5-7hrs before opening on a cold Friday to Saturday morning. Guess what? their phone doesn't work. Yeah the number posted on Google, Yelp, and Facebook... that they often reference. So whats the millennial way of communication these days? Facebook messenger, by the grace of god they answered to that and saved me a lot of wasted time. So bravo, you earned yourself a 2nd star. Either way I'll put the $1k towards someone elses release & not pay attention to any of your promotions... which may or may not happen? Hopefully no one else pays attention to your Facebook posts for the remaining two Saturdays?!?
In review, don't count on their promotions, their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been drinking Bourbon for about 6 or 7 years and have done a fair amount of research on the various offerings and distilleries from NY to KY. Iāve ventured on The Bourbon Trail 5 or 6 times and consider myself to be somewhat knowledgeable about this golden nectar we all love; and, I continue to learn more everyday. I was recently in Lexington and learned about Justinās House of Bourbon; intrigued by the pictures on their Facebook page I decided to visit this establishment with the expectation of finding the epitome of capitalism, with exorbitant prices in a niche market. Nothing could have been further from the truth. A great selection of Bourbon priced very competitively with the āmega storesā in town; some were a few dollars more and some were a few dollars less which you would expect. The difference in this place is the knowledge of the staff. Brian and Travis were working the day I was there and both are EXTREMELY knowledgeable about Bourbon. You canāt get that knowledge and service in the āmega storesā; it comes down to you get what you pay for!ā Yes, they had some ācollectibleā Bourbons like Elmer T. Lee that were priced at āsecondary marketā prices and someone will most probably come along and be willing to pay that; supply and demand is the basis of any healthy economy. Donāt let negative reviews from āsmall peopleā keep you from a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI will not go back to this place, very poor customer service!
Went down the 1st week of August, 2020 on a bourbon hunt.
I'll start with the positive. They have the best collection of rare Bourbon's that I ever seen, and everything is for sale, for the right price.
Not so positive... Make sure you know your basic prices before purchasing from here. A friend recently got into bourbon, and knew Blanton's was a decent bottle, but didn't know the cost. They were charged $170 a bottle for 2 bottles ($340). Common bottles are the average price, although anything that might be somewhat hard to find, the price climbs significantly. I understand making money, but gouging is rediculous.
Service was TERRIBLE! A young man was working and we were the only customer in the store 90% of the time. He was more interested in texting than waiting on us. Then... As with any bourbon hunt, conversation is part of the hunt. When we tried to have conversation, he was so glued to his phone, he wouldn't even acknowledge that we spoke to him. I have purchased plenty on a good recomendation, although needless to say, we left without purchasing anything. I honestly felt like he didnt think we were planning on spending much money. We purchased over 50 bottles for our collections, so we were prepared...
