Quite the fantastic beach, and a beautiful spot to watch the ocean waves! The only downside, in my opinion, is the little bit of a trek to the bathroom. However, that shouldn't stop you from visiting this beach!

I’m sure you can tell I thoroughly enjoyed the escapades I had along the beach! Along my quest, I met some new avian friends (although it did seem like the crows were out to murder the seagulls), found some really dope shells, and managed to nab some excellent shots in the process!

D River State Recreation Site had ample parking when I visited, which was on a Monday around 12:00 p.m. There were some seriously cool kites in the sky, which I'd love to come back here for the festival and try my hand at flying one. I even saw the Flying Spaghetti Monster… which turned out to be an octopus kite. But honestly? Maybe even cooler.

All in all, an excellent journey. I’ll definitely be back for...

On the shores of Lincoln City, where the D River whispers its brief tale to the Pacific, there's a stretch of sand that speaks to the wanderer in all of us. Here, during the kite festivals, the sky becomes a canvas, painted with dreams tethered to strings. Each kite, a vibrant splash against the blue, dances to the rhythm of the wind, teaching us the art of soaring high while staying grounded in the humble sands of reality.

And in this place, where the winds play and the waves hum, the Finders Keepers tradition turns the beach into a tapestry of discovery. Each hidden glass float, a secret nestled in the sand, is a metaphor for life's hidden treasures. As we wander with eyes cast down, we're reminded that the truest joys are often found not in the seeking, but in the...

Perfect first stop on your visit to Lincoln City! Parking is rough in summer of course, come very early for oceanfront spots. Beach is not large during high tide. Great location to stop and relax, eat lunch in your car or walk the dog. If you throw a fry out your window, 100 sea gulls will be on your car instantly. They have a mobi-mat installed at a certain time of year so you can avoid the couple of steps down to sand if you have mobility troubles. This is at the center of town, you can do sidewalks from here to downtown shops, eat at Kylos, Subway, close to Dutch bros., have a picnic in the sand, kids can play in the shallow, short creek beside Kylos (at D-River) in low tide. I am so grateful they do not charge...

My family has been going to this beach for over 20 years now. We just took my 3 kids there on Tuesday, 9-3. They had so much fun playing in the water pools by the ocean as well as in the sand. It was also windy enough that we flew one of our kites. They have free parking, which now has a traffic light to make it easier for the vehicles to pull out as well as a bathroom. It also has a place where you can wash your feet off from the sand. There are park benches facing the ocean and a concrete staircase leading down to the beach as well as a ramp to make it easier for strollers or wheelchairs to get onto the sand. Plus there are plenty of shops surrounding this area that are a short walk from the parking lot.
