Great selection of fossils but absurdly priced if you just want to get your kid something fun and cheap. For the wealthy collector, I'm sure it's great to get that $1000 rare specimen. Even the smaller fossils that are fairly common or the geodes that you can get for $5 from gem shows go for $20 or more at this store. One concern that I had was that we identified at least one duplicated trilobite fossil that was exactly identical to another one right next to it. I'm not talking about a close match, this was identical down to the position and curvature of the spines. The owner was nice enough to remove the specimens and even agreed that they were too close of a match to be a fluke, so he was going to get to the bottom of it. Perhaps his supplier is creating copies and ripping the store off, or perhaps it's something deeper and the customers have been getting ripped off by buying duplicates for high prices. I would question how long this supplier has been copying fossils and how many people got those copies from this store.
I'm giving them a 4 star because it really is a fun store to go in, but have to remove a star for the cheap copy being sold for...
Read moreWe went to Lincoln City for three days. We found this amazing store. We met Jim the owner. Jim was friendly & outgoing & answered the questions we had. He owns the store with his wife and his brother.
Very high quality products in the store and a variety of things to look at with a great selection of things to buy.
There's a dinosaur that greets you at the door he is so friendly and cute. We spent over an hour in the store and looked at everything from the books for the children, the rocks, the gems & all the things for sale. There was so many things to choose from we bought a rubber Megalodon & had a good time in the store. There were beetles, agates in jars very pretty & shiny, there were skulls, a skunk, variety of key chains & butterflies that were beautifully preserved. If you like these types of artifacts you will love this store. There are too many things to list. Such a wonderful stop on our trip. I talked to many people in the store that absoutely loved it. You will have to stop by on your next trip to Lincoln City, Oregon. It is well worth the time you will spend there & a...
Read moreThis place was pretty cool. Lots of cool stuff to look at... Fossils, rocks, dinosaur bones and skeletons. They have little area to sift through sand in water to find your own rocks and minerals. From the out side it looks kid friendly. They have a big mechanical dinosaur to greet you as you walk in. But it is not all that kid friendly. You'd think a place that is all about dinosaurs and fossils and even sells children's toys would be more accommodating for families with kids but we felt so unwanted there. We brought our 2 and 3 year old who are obsessed with dinosaurs. The workers here were extremely unfriendly to us. They literally followed us and hovered over us just because we had kids. Our kids were extremely well behaved and didn't touch anything. It was extremely uncomfortable for us and we had driven an hour to come check the place out. Everything is over priced, even the small common rocks. If you don't have kids this could be a great place to visit. I don't think we'll...
