We are a retired couple and have enjoyed all our many stays in Lincoln City for over 4 decades, with and without children. We have been blessed by this site for many of those stays. We miss not be able to use our Best Western points, but look forward to earning Choice points. We have always requested to stay on the 3rd floor, as far as possible from the elevator(never ending, very loud "DINGS" and foot traffic) and this time was no exception. We called very early on Sunday the day of our departure/arrival(we left Idaho at 6am) and spoke to night manager Leon. He assured us that our requested room would be ready. Due to our many years of experience with this location we knew that we wanted 3rd floor and on the far south end. Leon said our room would be ready and that he had noted that we had 3rd floor and south end requested. About 5 hours later, we were notified that there was an issue with our payment. We immediately pulled over and called and spoke to Nicole. She/we were able to quickly resolve the payment issue. I then asked Nicole to confirm that our 3rd floor, south end was being honored. Her reply was "we have you at the far end on the 3rd floor".
Well I am sure by now you know what is coming. We arrived at 5:30pm Oregon time. We were disappointed and surprised that "our room" had been given away. I repeatedly asked how/why this happened on both Sunday(arrival) and 5 days later, with Calli on Friday(departure). I was never given an honest answer. We ended up right at the elevator and got little sleep the entire 5 nights. We are not a young couple that can change or bounce back. We were offered a move to a quieter spot, after the first night. But the thought of having to repack and unpack was just more than we thought we could manage. In hindsight after the 2nd night, it might have been the wisest thing. To be honest I really expected some sort of compensation for their mistake. But none was offered. The room was not up to what we had become accustomed to receiving. The couch was full of dog hair and unusable(allergic). The "new" upgrades that Choice/Ascend made in the living area were quite uncomfortable. Their furniture upgrades have left comfort behind. I recommend, taking out the horrible green vinyl chair, the two cube footstools, the metal fake log footstool and the ridiculous half couch. Leave the dining table and four chairs and put in one decent recliner or loveseat.
Lastly, we are giving 5 stars to the entire staff. Housekeeping were super friendly, the "morning meal(by no means call this a breakfast) hostesses" and pool attendants were very kind and welcoming. We also appreciated the evening chowder...
Read moreJust don't do it. 13.5 years ago this place was incredible under Best Western. Now this company Ascend and a property manager in Lake Oswego that doesn't seem to care either, employee Managers that lie to your face. Workers that don't read reservation requests. Ask to move you as if they are doing you a favor but have nowhere to move you. I have a severe pet allergy, stated in my reservation. Yet my room smelled as if a pack of wet filthy dogs lived in the room for a week. Last time l brag about how nice a place is especially under different management. Upon check in was told there are only 3 rooms so it didn't matter. I said it does l have a reservation. with requests. ln addition there is a huge difference to dated and clean. The room was not clean, microwave was duct taped, Keurig coffee maker had old coffee pod left inside, refrigerator had a huge slash in it, the cupboards had caked grime from lack of proper cleaning. They did not do anything about people smoking on the balconies either. In addition l was told all Ascend properties are supposed to look the same and the Internet price and the price from calling to make your reservation should be the same. When l brought this up the manager stated he had to discuss this with his assistant manager first.. really? ( The quality of the room or lack of quality) The manager proceeded to ask me to return by 3pm so we could address this with both manager and assistant. Manager had already left for the day when l returned at 2 pm. On a weekend trip asked to come back early. This whole stay was a nightmare. They still have not made it right l still have pictures on my phone and if l find a way to upload them here l will. Because my pictures speak VOLUMES! Just don't stay here. My cousin who runs an Acend hotel in Wyoming was floored they are even allowed to carry the brand name! Said they should have put me up in a different hotel. They are not ADA compliant for parking. Apparently even a worker has informed her boss of this, maybe someone will actually look into this for those brave enough. As l said there is a difference between dated and dirty. Don't mind dated.. stay at Sand Castle in Lincoln city, is very clean and comfy beds, Or looking Glass inn is nice, unless handicapped Only reason not there.. No elevator for disabled folks that want a view. But my favorite.. Inn at Spanish head in one of the suits! Elevator, CLEAN, and a view. The only positive is...
Read moreI recently stayed at what was supposed to be a luxury hotel Lincoln City Sands, it was absolutely unserviceable and not up to standard. It turned out to be an absolute nightmare. From the moment we arrived, things went downhill rapidly. Upon check-in, we were given a choice: wait one hour for the third-story room with a soaker tub we originally booked, or wait ten minutes for a lower-level room that lacked the amenities we paid for. We opted to wait the hour, but after waiting patiently, we were given the lower-level room anyway, and later learned that while we were waiting in the car they gave the room to someone else. The front desk then claimed this was the room we booked, even though it clearly wasn't. The staff member who initially promised us the third-story room had mysteriously disappeared, and no one else seemed willing to help.
The room itself was filthy. There was a noticeable fly infestation, with insects buzzing around constantly. We found leftover pet materials, indicating a lack of thorough cleaning. The bed was dirty with visible stains of mud on the headboard and walls. The room even posed a fire hazard, there was a microwave plugged in under the sink, making us feel unsafe during our stay.
As a result of these issues, the only option the hotel provided to resolve the problem was to vacate the room for them to clean it. We waited another hour, but the cleaning barely made a difference. This disruption ruined our plans and added to our frustration.
Adding insult to injury, we are allergic to dogs, the housekeeper they sent to clean the room mentioned the previous guest had a dog in the hotel room before us, we woke up with hives. We spoke to the assistant manager about all these issues, but he showed no interest in resolving them. His only offer was a measly $60 discount, which did nothing to compensate for our terrible experience. It was clear that our complaints were falling on deaf ears.
To top it all off, we felt discriminated against throughout our stay. The staff's attitude towards us was unwelcoming and dismissive, making an already bad situation even worse.
In conclusion, this so-called luxury hotel failed on every front. From poor service and unclean conditions to a lack of safety and discriminatory treatment, our stay was an absolute disaster. I would not recommend this...
