I bought some defective kids Roper boots here. That was annoying, but over the phone they said they'd exchange them without the receipt as they could look it up with my card. What actually happened was more intrusive and less pleasant than a TSA strip search.
First of all we live FAR AWAY from this store. One day I was killing time waiting on a delayed plane coming into ATL and needed some tack. Everything except the overly eager sales people was a good experience. I picked up a wide variety of things. The Roper boots came apart on the first day wearing them, but I couldn't find the receipt. I called the store and they said no problem, they could look it up with my card. I let them know it might be a week or more before we could come in because we were not in their area, I was told no problem. The next time we're semi close I mention to my family I need to go by there. They all object as it's out of the way and sounds like a pain. I swear it's going to be quick as I called them about it and they assured me it's not an issue. So as our entire family is waiting I break off with a (different) kid in tow to exchange the boots. Initially I'm told by the cashier that she's not sure but she'll ask approval. I'm not concerned and go to pick out another pair. Then she tells me that she spoke to the manager I talked to on the phone and it's all approved by two mangers and she just needs to figure out how to do the transaction. I tell her that the new boots are less than the first pair so I can go pick something out while she studies her POS. At this point it's been maybe 5 min. When I return I'm told by the cashier that the manager in the store is objecting to the exchange and wants to see evidence (Savannah I think, maybe 19yo). I show her the phone call placed to the store the week prior. That's not good enough. I give the dollar amount, time frame, and the date of the transaction. Not good enough. I rattle off everything I purchased in that transaction. Not good enough. I show them my online banking with the transaction. Not good enough. Never once did they ask for my card to look it up that way as I'd been told on the phone. I was asked for other things and grilled with all sorts of other questions and the boots were then inspected thoroughly in front of me as if I was some kind of scammer/liar. It seemed that in the end the manager in front of me was overruled and grumpy about it because she sulked off looking defeated after about an hour of wasting my time and the cashier went ahead and did a "no receipt return" and bought the other items with a gift card. The manager did slip in some rude comment about the next time I was there to which I reminded her we aren't local and we only came back all this way because I was assured on the phone it wasn't going to be an issue. I was definitely embarrassed with my family who was waiting around on me that hour. Had I known how it was going to go I would have thrown those darn boots in the trash and never gone back. As it is, that manager (I think her name was Savannah) just lost our business forever and my entire family now has a bad impression. To her, it saved your company zero dollars to be rude about an exchange. But if you were paying ANY attention... I dropped in and bought 6+ items from several departments on a whim (or at least you verified that my last transaction was large), when one didn't work I came back not upset and spent a good amount of my time looking at horse stuff and premium kid saddles. But because of a defective kids boot identical to the ones on your shelf, a near perfect sole with no inner wear marks but a tattered top, not big enough for my hand and less expensive than a bag of dog food... you were rude, intrusive and accusatory for nearly an hour. I hope you find your place in the world, girl. I don't think it's anywhere close to...
Read more" WILL NEVER RECOMMEND" Boots have been ordered 2 weeks ago in-store, and still haven't arrived to my home. No call e-mail with a order number, or communication about my husband's boots. "UPDATE". called the store to ask about my order 2 weeks after I place a in store order for ship to home delivery. A lady tells me she can't find my order, then she said she found it and she don't know what's going on and let her talk to the manager to see what's going on. After waiting the manager comes on the phone and ask "how can I help you"! I said I just spoke with your associate who went to ask you what's going on with my order. So I explained everything again to the manager who said that "well my associate told me you was being rude to her" I said ma'am what did I say to your emploee? SHE COULDN'T SAY..I said to the manager I explained the same thing to you as I did her" the manager then tells me "well maybe it was your tone of voice" I said to the manager the same way I explained my issue to you was the same way I expressed it to your associate. I asked the manager for her name to get clarity on what MANAGER is being unpleasant and has a nasty tone with me because of a LIE her associate told her about me being rude to her. I told the manager you can just refund my money. The manager "ANGELA" Then switched up her tone with me and said if you can give me a little while I will look into it. I said are you going to call me back today and she said yes. So she called back about a hr and I told my husband to answer it, so she tells him the boots that we ordered were "DISCONTINUED", so we both was thinking to ourselves when, we just ordered them the 2nd of January they were available at the Snellville location when we ordered them. nobody informed us after spending $153 in store for them. Besides this order we have spent over $800 the beginning of this year alone on other boots belts and items in this store. NEVER WILL WE SPEND OUR MONEY IN THIS CAVENDER'S IN LOCUST...

We're hosting an Italian exchange student who was excited about going to buy real cowboy boots. I took a day off and we went to Horsetown in Locust Grove.
First, I have not been in any Horsetown location since the family sold to Cavender's but I really wasn't expecting much change...boy was I wrong. Based on this experience I will not be going back and would not recommend Cavender's to anyone.
We walked in the door just before lunch on a Tuesday. We were, literally, the only customers in the store. It's not hard to hide that you are walking in their front doors but not a single employee looked up, said hello, or even acknowledged our arrival.
We headed to the boot section and figured someone would come help us there. Nope. No one walked by, looked down the aisle, or offered to help. I own a pair of boots but am no boot-fitting expert.
We spent over 30 minutes trying on boots and walking around the store looking at everything. In fact, at one point, I walked up to the register to look at the boot jacks. Not a single response from anyone.
We left, without buying anything. On the way out...you guessed it, nothing.
Shame on you, Cavender's, for ruining the Horsetown brand. Their stores used to be full of knowledgeable, experienced employees. Now, it's just another...
