Then: I love this store. We were actually welcomed when we walked in. They have really cute stationary and tea cups and houseware. The cashier was very nice and even helped us find somewhere nearby to eat. Would absolutely shop here again.
Now: That's how I felt the last time when I gave Daiso 5 stars. Unfortunately I had the complete opposite experience this time. I was there with my whole family, and some guy decided he needed to blatently follow me around the store like I was a theif. I am not. I understand they have a job to do, I'm not new to LA shopping. But usually someone checks you out discretely and moves on when they see you're there to shop. This guy literally just walked right behind us as we shopped through half the store until I finally began to feel offended instead of amused and said something. Then he ran away with no apology. The cashier was gross. Her belly was hanging out of her shirt, and she had a really miserable, nasty, unhelpful attitude. The complete opposite of my experience the first time I was here. And I was telling everyone how much I loved it too....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've actually been to Daiso many times before and I truly relish every minute I'm allowed inside. Whether it was my now ex-girlfriend warning me to come to the car in 15 or she's gone or one of my homeboys giving me an absolutely ridiculous 10 minutes to grab what I needed. This establishment requires at least an hour to walk through and view all it's wares. From ramen noodles to silverware to toys to art supplies.....I can keep on with the this to that but I won't know how or where to stop. Then there's the pricing ,oh the pricing is mah-vu-lus!! The signs say EVERYTHING $1.50 unless marked otherwise. Believe me almost all their inventory is $1.50. You just need one stop and you'll be a Daiso Dreamer like myself. From what I understand there's a couple of locations around L A. I've been to two; Korea Town and Little Tokyo. The K-Town is a bit larger ( so more time is gonna be needed) and both have non bugging staff. DAISO is a place I go to now alone as a treat, mucho dinero is not a requirement...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had the unpleasant and awful experience in one of store on Monday. It was the Little Tokyo location Los Angeles, CA.
I was followed around the entire time I was there by your Latino security guard who I do not care to know his name. Needless to say it may me very uneasy and fear for my life as I am a woman and black.
No need to treat every black person that comes within armās distance as some sort of criminal. The manager Gloria, was very quick to give me the corporate email, I guess this is not the first time regarding this security guard or this location in general for racial profiling?
And to top it all off, I did not receive an apology from the store manager regarding the rude and racist security guard.
I have shopped at Daiso for many years and always recommend it to people when then ask me what cute and inexpensive items you sell but I will be very hesitant in the future to do so.
I did receive a response from the headquarters regarding this so I guess thatās worth the 1 star...
