We placed a Togo order for a delightful variety of dishes at this Japanese restaurant located in downtown LA. It happens to be one of my brother's favorite places, and he was determined to welcome me with a special dinner from here, despite the crazy Friday traffic in the area. Arriving a little early, we patiently waited for them to open at exactly 5:00 pm. Since our order was quite substantial, they kindly brought the food to our car in the parking structure. My generous brother left a big tip for both the waitress and the person who delivered the food. The entire family thoroughly enjoyed the meal. I opted for the chirashi, which was a generous portion of fresh sashimi, rice, and a variety of veggies. It paired perfectly with my niece's favorite beer, Allagash Curieux, which I found to be excellent. Later, we also indulged in some sake. The gathering was filled with heartwarming conversations and scrumptious food, making it a truly cherished moment for all of us. Such experiences remind us of the joy of family gatherings and the simple pleasures of life.

Probably we went there on their worst day to get decent sushi..... they were out of many fish. So ... we ordered two Omakase (chefs choice) at $100 each and Teriyaki dish for my kid (we ordered Karaage fried chickenbut Teriyaki came out ... since they were busy, we just let go) and two Sake. They let my kid sit on the counter, so that was a big plus (usually Kids or whoever order non Omakase cannot sit on counter seats) Service was good. Atmosphere is like Japan. However, for Omakase, I would expect Chef to pick the better pieces than we got. Because of the price, I am reluctant to try again... that’s why we always ended up going to the same usual consistent place ... 😢

Took a friend for an impromptu omakase lunch at the sushi bar. Pretty much a tasting menu of their today’s special/fresh catches. Super fatty toro, and tried some that are usually rarely appeared on the menu. Love it! Very good quality & freshness. Their marinated mushroom was soo naturally sweet (no sugar added). $140 per person (this price might change based on type of fishes available. It’s comparable to those more famous omakase joint. Just that you are not paying extra for the decoration. This is a cozy family run old school goodness. Oh and their house made wasabi/scalllion sauce is so good I wish I could buy some to take home!

I've been here twice, and after my most recent trip, it's safe to say that I've no desire to come back.

We got the fancy Chirashi Jyu Sushi Box Matsu, a two tiered box that was gorgeously presented. ($24) and an order of Vegetable Tempura ($6ish)

My friends got the Chicken Teriyaki ($?) and the Seafood Tempura Dinner ($19)

The experience that left us all irked and sour was based around the Seafood Tempura Dinner. That meal was the last to arrive, and when it finally did, it was a bowl of rice and small plate of maybe like...5 pieces of Tempura? It didn't have any vegetable tempura that the menu had said.

So we asked if they had forgotten about the vegetable portion of the tempura, and they said no, the Seafood Tempura didn't have vegetable tempura. We were left puzzled, because we had remembered reading it on the menu.

We then asked another waitress for the menu, just to double check and ease our minds. But it was clear, on the description, that vegetable tempura comes with that meal. So we had to flag the waitress that brought the menu over, to let her know that YES, it does come with it.

She looked at the menu, and said that she'll inform our actual waitress to get it cleared up.

Our actual waitress was a busy bee, going to all of the other tables except ours, and 10 min later, she arrived to us asking what was going on? We then had to point out the menu description again. She furrowed her eyebrows, and said ok I'll check with the kitchen.

Keep in mind that my friend has not touched her dinner at all, because she didn't want them to accuse her of eating all the "missing" tempura, so she was starving by the time they realized they were wrong and FINALLY brought out the vegetable tempura that was originally supposed to have been there in the first place.

It turns out to be 3 small pieces of veggie tempura. Oyyyy. Really not worth it for $19 and almost 30 mins of getting this sorted out.

Also, the waitress didn't apologize for the mistake. She comes back with, that the menus are OUTDATED. Really? All of the menus are outdated?

It would've been fine if they had just apologized their mistake and moved on. But to create an excuse that the menus were outdated was not our problem. If the menu says it, you should have it and provide it.

Highly disappointed. With so many other quality sushi places in Little Tokyo, I can pass...

This is probably the worst Japanese restaurant we ever dined at, regardless current labor shortage or COVID situation. We picked this restaurant to celebrate Mother's Day yesterday but it turned out to be a terrible experience. First of all, the customer service of the old gentleman/owner? is horrible. Upon our arrival, there are total of 3 tables, and there are the gentleman/owner himself plus two runners. We understand the situation, so we waited patiently. When our food was served, my daughter's order was incorrect. We informed the gentleman right away and started running into arguments, and he even brought over the order he wrote in Japanese trying to show us that he didn't take the order incorrectly. He questioned my daughter's order with a very unfriendly attitude, my daughter was frighten until my son stepped in telling him that she did state precisely of what she wanted. The guy then backed down. Then, we wanted to order something extra but wasn't able to get to the gentleman so we told the runner to put in the order for us. Nothing happened for the next 10 minutes, until I asked him regarding the order, then he came to me yelling/telling me that "He is just a runner, he does not take orders." Okay. After the new order, a sashimi order is served, that really caught me by surprise. It was a plate of 10 slices of paper thin sashimi, which cost $50 total. $50 for 10 slices of sashimi, which is $5 per slice, with the food and service quality, it is a disgrace to Japanese culinary art. Conclusion for the night? The tuition for the night...
