Tacos La 26! (Previously Ave 26 Tacos) — Restaurant in Los Angeles

My go to spot for LA street tacos.

I miss the OG spot for what it was but the (new) relocated spot is for the better in terms of parking and the vendor having their own space as opposed to additional unrelated vendors like the old spot.

Food: I personally always get myself a mix of Asada and Al Pastor. My friend and I got the Cabeza as well and said it was the best he's had so far, very soft and tender. They have potatoes there and to get one you just have to ask. You can also get caramelized onions that they periodically throw on the grill; large and sweet. When getting a plate, you will probably finding yourself back in line for a second round. You can also ask for it to-go and they can foil wrap the plate for you. Sauces/condiments are provided with small sauce cups/lids along with plastic bags if desired.

Drinks: They have Horchata, Agua de Jamaica (Hibiscus), Pineapple, Melon, and lime(lemonade). Friends and I tried each drink besides the melon drink (because we both had two each). They said 10/10 best place so far for taco stand Agua Frescas. Pineapple is sweet and refreshing. Horchata is nice and smooth and does not have a lot of cinnamon in it while drinking which my friend liked. Aqua de Jamaica/Hibiscus drink is nice and sweet. I need to try out the melon next time. One size only for drinks but moderate size and worth the price.

Seating: Not much to say, no seating besides your own car or pop the trunk for a table (or even on the trunk). Been like that since the old spot but does not bother me or anyone else really.

Service: The vendor/people working there are nice.

One of my favorite places to eat, formally known as Ave 26, has been one of my go-to spots to get amazing al pastor tacos. It was previously known as Ave 26 as it originated in the back alley ways of 26th street of Lincoln Heights. But nonetheless is still one of the BEST taco stands here in Little Tokyo. I do miss the times when me and my friends would go down to the original spot when they had multiple vendors around, where not only you can get amazing tacos but also churros and horchata from the other local vendors!

My usual combo I get from here is to ask for 3 al pastor, 2 carne asada tacos, and get an horchata on the side. Their tacos are served on 2-layered corn tortillas and they give a potato on the side. They also have a fully stocked salsa station, where you can get a variety of salsas, chopped onions, cilantro, limes, radishes, or even grilled onions and jalapeños

The new spot in Little Tokyo gives this place much more of a spacious feel, and have parking readily available to you, which is a nice switch up from finding street parking.

This place is overrated... not worth all the hype. The food is actually pretty mediocre. We tried the tacos (chicken, chorizo, asada, al pastor, and some other meat) and the burritos. My husband didn't like any of the meats and I only liked the chicken. However, the chicken's flavor got completely lost in the burrito with so much cheese and the underwhelming flavor of the rice. This place has been hyped up so much, I was expecting it to become my new favorite taco stand. Sadly, FAR FROM IT! We actually didn't even end up finishing the food. The cherry on top was that they charged us for drinks we didn't order. We ordered two Cokes, but we were charged for two Cokes and two aguas frescas. We didn't even notice it until my husband went to pick up our drinks and the employee asked him which aguas frescas he wanted. She told him he was charged for four drinks. It was so busy that we just ended up leaving without asking for a refund, but imagine if they're used to doing this and getting away with it. Check your receipts!!!
