I try to check out all the sport fishing boats from LA to San Diego and this one is by far the worst. To start the day off, the boat needed to gas up before we left, we went to a bait barge that didnt have what we needed so we drove for over an hour to meet a boat with sardines before we headed the opposite direction to the local fishing area. The deckhands don't help you fish at all, they just mess around and joke with each other all day, no directing the beginners, no helping tying knots, no useful tips, they're just there probably because noone else will hire them. The boat itself was dirty and this is probably also the deckhands' fault, they left scraps from cleaning fish on for over an hour and left blood where it was splattered until the very end of the trip. Worst thing about this boat is the regulars who come on acting like this is their boat. They are rude and have no fishing etiquette. These are the guys who wont slide to the left or right because they want to have the corner of the boat. It doesnt matter than everyone's line is swaying their direction, they want that corner and there's no way they will give it up. They will cast over your and then push you out of the way to get to the spot they want.
The only positives i can say about this boat was that the cook was cool and the captain fished late to make up for the late start.
I will never even think of going back to...
Read moreCalled 2 weeks in advance to schedule a whale watching cruise for mothers's day and asked if they recommended reservations and they said they did. I set it up, asked if they need a deposit and they said no. I even took down the name of the person who took my reservation just to be sure I had it. The day of my family of four shows up 35min early and they were all booked up with no record of my reservation! The people at the desk said, 'sorry you'll have to wait for the next one in an hour'. They did nothing to make it better and really didn't seem to care at all. Just blew us off and said take the next one. It was a very frustrating experience! We did eventually go. The boat and the crew were very nice, however, there's not a chance I'd ever go through these guys again or ever...
Read moreIt’s called Whale Watching but this is the 3rd consecutive year that I come and see no whales. Yesterday I went and not even a single dolphin or ANYTHING. If I’m paying $50+ for a ticket for whale sighting and there’s none then I would expect some type of partial refund because that’s false advertisement. Now I understand that it may not be a for sure thing but for 3 consecutive years? That’s not right, honestly. And each time the pricing keeps increasing. At first the tickets were $25, then after the pandemic it increased to $40 then a year later $50! So if you’re inviting a second person that’s $100! Oh wait, $100 if you’re paying online, otherwise in person that would be $55 per person. This is the last time I’m...
