UPDATE the cleanliness is gradually improving, and the cleaning people are nice and doing their best all considered but I sure wish members would be more considerate and NOT use the hot tub as if it is their personal bathtub, not rinsing off their work out, steam room or sauna sweat before they get in, scrubbing and rinsing their sweaty faces, putting dirty moldy pool toys in it, or I've seen a few dudes literally blow their noses in their hands and submerge the snot in the water, NO ONE WANTS TO SIT IN YOUR HOT SNOT! Its NOT your personal bathtub! GROSS!
First time back since the height of pandemic and it looks as if the place hasnt been cleaned since then, its really gross. i kinda regret returning but its done now. there is mold in at least 1 of the showers, constant hair balls, a couple times i seen some questionable blood looking crud. we wont even talk about the toilets and tissue and other stuff all over the floor in the stalls and on the seats and wads of wet tissue that end up around the hot tub and pool. there is a team of fruit flies perpetually hanging out above the alcove where the poolside rinse off shower is, spray up there and they all go flying, trust me, i did it by accident and was grossed out by all the little bugs that took off flying. the steam room, though i appreciate the experience, is not a place you can sit on anything so i dont. it used to smell like bleach at least some times like it was clean, now it just smells dank and a little mildewy. same deal, love the hot tub for relaxing but mildew under the edges where people often put their backs against, gross. i miss towel service, at least i could wipe the floor after i dried myself in consideration for others. now its a constant dirty wet mess from everyone, with caution wet floor stands all over the place. its dusty in places where i recall seeing cleaning people clean once upon a time after midnight when the it was still a true 24 hour facility. they seemed to do a good job back then but now, it seems they arent there anymore. the machines are not clean and dont look like they have been since pandemic, where once upon a time things looked cleaner. the yoga balls in the upstairs nook are deflated when you go to actually use them. no one seems to care about the rules/signs about rinsing off their sweat before getting in the hot tub or not wearing their street shoes in the steam room and sauna. the two rowing machines are completely broken, there is no tension in the flywheel so unless you wanna just push back and forth with your legs, there is no work out to be had here. Ive been back 3 weeks and waited to see if it was just my imagination but its not. This place has gone way down, its unclean, its not 24 hours and I really quite nearly regret returning for the cost. There used to be perks,...
Read moreUPDATE: I normally rated this gym fairly well, but there's some very obvious issues.
First and foremost, the AC in the gym has been down for literally 3-4 MONTHS now. The inside of the gym is absolutely a sauna and a danger to the public as I've gotten dizzy multiple times, especially considering it's currently 112 outside. This is a major joke.
Until the gym fixes their AC issue, I would strongly advise you stay away.
Fix your AC, and I'll fix my review.
Original Review:
This gym is alright. This review is more to be a comparison to the closest nearby location, The Village.
Both locations have their pros and cons, but I won't go into too much about the Village's location because I wrote a separate review for this one.
This gym has mostly replaced the Village's location for me due to it's location and size, but there are some gripes I really have with this spot that are frustrating.
This gym seems larger and less busy than The Village, and the clientele seem much different. This location seems to be more oriented towards an older crowd, and is in general far less busier than The Village's location, which means it's easier for you to get your workouts in without having to wait for machines for too long.
That being said, the machines here are in far worse shape than The Village. Many of the machines are clearly old, and seem like they could just break at any moment. One specific machine I can think of is the seated leg curls. I don't use that one because it's just painful to use at this point. Additionally, many of the machine's weight numbers have simply faded off, and makes it difficult to know what weight you are actually using. You have to calculate it based on the very few that still have some remnants of numbers visible.
But my biggest gripe by far, though, which is the single most frustrating thing about this location, is that the Gym's name is just blatantly false at this location.
If you're signing up to use this location and you actually expect it to be 24 hours, don't. It's not 24 hours. They close at 9PM. If you are the type to enjoy late night workouts, this isn't the place for you. Thankfully the Village is very close by and that one IS open 24 hours.
So the tradeoff between this location and the Village is that at this location, you will have an easier time to get your workout in with less crowding, but you're working out on older equipment and lose the "24 hours" aspect of 24...
Read moreYikes! This place was a nightmare. Granted they have the gym set up outdoors, which is not their fault entirely, but the ruler of California's. I walked outdoors into a tent at this gym, which isn't really outdoors because it's covered. It's just set up outdoors, then completely shielded as if you're indoors. I was horrified the second my foot stepped into that tent. There weren't that many machines and every-single-one of them was taken. And everyone was on top of each other and not social distancing. Not that there was any room to social distance.
When I see that, that tells me a couple of things. One of them is that this is way over capacity. They shouldn't be letting that many in there to work out and sweat on top of one another. The second thing is how illogical it is since it's worse than working out indoors. We're better off working inside where there is more space and people are likely not as on top of one another.
Again, not necessarily the gyms fault, but the Governor's and the illogical people making these bizarre decisions. They've obviously never been out in the field to see what it's like. Still this gym is booking way over capacity. The front desk guy at this gym was super friendly, so 5 stars for him, but the rest of the experience was horrible there and only one star. The patrons weren't particularly friendly either, standing over you with their arms folded to try and rush you off the machine. Inconsiderate people that actually have the audacity to do that says a great deal of what they're like. Unpleasant all around. This gym visit was a complete nightmare and I will never be stepping foot in here ever again and nor will I miss it or any of those people...
