My friends and I had a bad experience down stairs at “Don the beachcomber”. We waited at an outside table with drinks for 40 min and our server just forgot to come back and take our food order. We ended up leaving to come get food here instead. We come here and the service is immediate. Our server seemed nice and took our drink/food order right away. View was nice. One of my friends and I both ordered pina coladas. They came and definitely looked off (half frozen mix on top and the bottom half looked like orange liquid separating from the frozen part). We tried them and both of us agreed they tasted nothing like pina coladas - absolutely terrible. We sent them back and ordered beers. Our server was nice about it and just took them. After we ate and got our checks we noticed we were charged for the pina coladas and not the beers (which were obviously cheaper). Our server said it wasnt a mistake and that “since he watched the bartender make them correctly, he has to charge for them because this was based on our taste and not the fact she made them wrong”. LOL never have I everrrrr experienced that before. I’ll never be back. This is just another beach bar trying to rip you off. After our experience at the don, honestly just avoid this whole damn building unless you want bad customer service/ mediocre...
Read moreUnderstaffed, of course. Understanding that, we were patient. We were by the pool and had to flag down a server a couple of times before we were able to get menus and order drinks. One of the two drinks ordered was incorrect when server brought them out. Ordered a chicken sandwich with fries and what My friend thought was going to be a decent size lunch. An hour later we had not seen our server nor had we received our meal. Flagged down another server who asked us what we ordered. We told him and he said that our food had been up and he didn't know where it was supposed to go. Finally received our food. My chicken sandwich and fries were fine but cost $17. My friend's meal was literally three small chips with minimal ahi tuna and a little bit of veggie. $22. It wasn't even a big enough portion to be qualified as an appetizer, but it was listed under the entrees. Kitchen is simply too far from the rooftop and the process needs to be improved. And the prices are definitely too high for what is being served. The two servers who were on duty were working hard but simply couldn't cover the...
Read moreIt's hard to rate the hotel, restaurant and bars. On one side of the rating you have to consider that they were open immediately after Hurricane Helene and offered a safe place to stay when our homes were flooded and unlivable. They had the ability to cook food and serve drinks, so for the first part of the rating they are 5★, the only reason I have difficulty in rating them 5★ is the plate size compared to the cost. Several of the meals that I ordered were extremely small compared to the cost of them and they were not the gourmet meals that those prices would normally be associated with. The food was from their normal menu so the cost was not due to the hurricane. The food portions are just extremely small, but expensive & basic. I'm going to return after things calm down in Madeira Beach to see if the food changes. There were some 5 star food choices on the menu but unfortunately they were...
