Amazing service, a nice change for a Mammoth Lakes board shop. I was looking to have my board waxed and tuned and didn't want to go to the same stores that were on Main St from past experiences. The shops on Main St are usually ran by teenagers that are often rude and not very helpful. After doing a quick search, I decided to give Fast Ski Sports a chance from the other great reviews. I walked in and was greeted by one of the two older gentleman that were working there. After informing him what I needed, he apologetically explained to me that what I needed could not be done overnight. I needed a minor top sheet repair, edge tune, and a wax. He explained to me that they were already booked up for overnight service but also explained to me that the top sheet damage was minor and that I could try to fix it myself with some epoxy work. He also provided directions to the nearest hardware store where I could get some supplies. I asked him if he could give me a quick machine wax and he said that he would be happy to for free. He promptly waxed my board happily and I was on my way. I wish I could have purchased something from there to thank him for his wonderful service but I didn't need anything. I will definitely visit the store on future visits for any supplies...
Read moreVery bad experience. It was our first time in Mammoth Mountain, so we didn't know anywhere to rent. This place was the closest to our apartment. When we got there the staff was very rude over all. They where treating us as we never had skied before. When we suggested what we wanted for our skis, what type of boots, what type of skis we would like for what we enjoy.. They answer was "no, you want this ski". Bad decision, we should have left right at that point but we didn't.
We where promised that if we didn't like the rentals, or we wanted to try something different it would be as easy as stopping by and choosing an other equipment. Next day, fresh snow, we drop by, ask for a different equipment to enjoy the beautiful day that the mountain gave us.. their answer "No, we don't want people breaking our skis". If I break something, I can pay for it and assume my own risks.
If you don't know where to rent go to Footloose. My dad ended up renting there and the experience was great. Superb rental quality and very friendly staff. They even took the time to personalize his rental boot so that It didn't hurt in one specific spot!! Next time we know...
Read moreThese guys are top notch! The owner Matt and his crew have something special and rarely found in retail these days. If you like a personal connection to a business, excellent product knowledge, a dedication to their sport, and a great customer service experience then this place is for you. I had a big local race coming up and went in for a stone grind and they walked me through the whole process, showing me the available finishes and what they would do for me. We talked waxing, snow conditions, edge prep and you could sense a real passion for the process and finished product. Kevin took care of my snowboard and the board performed incredibly. He described what I could do if I needed to make minor changes to the way it rode and even offered to dial it in the night before the race. After testing it the next day we did a minor detune and it was good to go. They sent it out with a super fast base wax just right for the snow temps, all I had to do was a last minute overlay just before my runs. The board rode perfectly and I ended up just off the podium. This time I can only blame it on pilot error. Thanks...
