I wanted to share the experience I had with Tom Cage (owner).
I had a new pair of Blizzard Brahmas mounted here. Upon collection of the skis, I noticed that the heel piece of the bindings was off centre, about 1.5mm to the left (photos attached).
When I mentioned this to the tech shop staff, they measured and asked if Iād like to speak with a manager. I was introduced to Tom.
Tom refused to acknowledge the issue with the mount, referred to me as āanalā and said it would be impossible to notice the off centre mount while skiing. A ski mounted 1.5mm to the left of centre will tip onto edge more easily to the left than to the right, and the heel piece being more off centre than the toe results in the ski pointing in a different direction when the foot is straight. This is definitely noticeable while skiing. He ended the discussion abruptly by refusing to do anything about it.
After the busy holiday period had subsided, I returned to the store in the hopes of continuing the conversation. Tom claimed he would contact someone he knew at Marker (the brand of the bindings) for assistance. I was later told that this person had measured the binding mount with Tom and agreed they were centred (I repeat, photos attached).
When I reiterated to Tom that this was simply not true, and tried to show Tom (with electric callipers he provided me) that the skis had been incorrectly mounted, he lost his temper and yelled in my face: He claimed I was trying to cheat him, threw the skis down and yelled āfāk youā in my face. Following this, I asked to take my equipment and leave the store.
In short, Iāve never experienced this level of unprofessionalism, disrespect and abusive language and behaviour in a professional setting. I hope in sharing this, it informs people of Tomās unacceptable and intimidating conduct, and is reason to question having gear worked on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWow what an experience. Yesterday we went to a store to buy a pair of boots and skis for our son. Had a fantastic experience but they had very low stock. I later did some research to see what other stores we could find boots. Kittedge had good reviews and when I called them up with what we were looking for, I was told by the employee not to worry as they had a lot of boots in stock including the specs I gave him, to come into the store and they would give us fitting of 2-3 boots to choose from. I asked him about the demo program which he explained. He didnāt say anything about us having to do the demo program to get boots fitted. I told him weād be over the next day. Next day (today) we made time to go in. They were busy, we were told to stand at the white table and wait our turn. A man approaches (later find out heās the owner?) and has a go at an employee, the other employees walked away uncomfortable by the owners reaction. Heās frustrated, then comes to me and asks us what we want. I told him we want to buy a pair of ski boots for our son. He was so rude, we wanted to buy locally and heās being super rude, telling me people come in and get fitted and then go buy online. He also said they only do demos. I told him about my phone convo the day before. He was not interested. No excuse to be rude. He orders my son to sit and take his shoes off. We are ready to leave the store, my son was nervous and uncomfortable and wanted to leave. I asked the employee next to us ācan we not work with that guy?) He was kind and helped us instead. In the end we left because we didnāt have the right socks. I have no interest in going back. The customer service we got at the place yesterday and today was night and day. We will wait for the other store to get stock and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe have been going here for 15+ years for rentals and I will NEVER RETURN. I do not post reviews unless I feel the need to help others out with their experience. If I could give this business negative stars I would. Take your business somewhere else. They would be more appreciative then here. What a horrific experience. The staff were the most rude, inconsiderate people I have ever met. Why do you have an 8pm closing time on your website, google and yelp if you really close at 7:30? My family and I drove 6.5hours to Mammoth in the snow so we could get there as close to 7:45pm as possible. We could tell it was busy but didn't think anything about not continuing with our rentals because the closing time was 8pm, even on the doors to walk into the shop. I processed to ask a staffer, calmly, for assistance for my father and my 3 year old to get skis. In the worst look possible, the manager at that, looked at me with a disgusted tone and said "let me just drop what I have going on to help serve you". I proceeded to say, "excuse me, I'm sorry, I'm not a confrontational person. I can wait until you are through?" I was very distraught. He continued with, "what do want me to tell the next people after you? My staff need to go home at some point. It's not all about you and your rentals. We open at 7am tomorrow. You can come then. Until then I will not be helping you." And walked away. If I could get ahold of the owner, I would explain to him how horrible he was to me. I am a younger mom and with my 3year old in my arms I was embarrassed. Think twice about...
