Holy cow!! This place is awesome. I went here on a whim just because we were staying across the street. I saw the sign that said Latin Market and wondered if they had tamales, which they didn't. But, they had tacos so that's a win. We ordered 2 chorizo tacos and 2 asada tacos for $2.50 a piece. I saw the prices on a recent photo and could not believe it but the prices are real! In NYC, tacos like these in similar hole in the wall places go for $4-$5 a piece. At $2.50 a taco it is an incredible deal because it also comes with a little side of beans, radish, onions and jalepeno. They also do not skimp on the fillings. Both tacos were phenomenal but the chorizo was our favorite. It was spicy and packed with flavor.
We proceeded to go back the next two days as a snack after our hikes in Yosemite. The second day we had 2 fish tacos and 2 chorizo tacos. The fish tacos were grilled and well seasoned. But, I could not believe that the chorizo tacos could taste even better than the first day and it did. On the last day, we went full chorizo and ordered 6 tacos to end our stay at Mammoth.
I also want to note, we had a full kitchen at the place we were staying and did not venture out to any restaurants because I'm pretty allergic to tourist trap-like restaurants. The one thing that can make me truly unhappy is expensive sup-par food. I was absolutely floored by this place and would go back the next time we are visiting Yosemite. Prices are great and food is...
Read moreI live in the Los Angeles area and I have to say... The Mexican food here can hold its own with anything you'll find in LA! We got the Tortilla Soup, Asada Quesadilla, Carnitas Tacos and California Burrito.
The way it works is that you pay for your food at the counter to the left as you walk in. Then they give you a ticket or tickets with your order and you tske them to the kitchen counter in the back.
All of the food we got was great, the real standouts were the Burrito and the Tacos! The California Burrito was BETTER than any we had in San Diego, which should tell you how great it was: Cheesy, meaty and plenty of french fries and guac. Loved it!
The tacos had plenty of meat, and the meat had great flavor! KILLER with their green sauce!
The Tortilla Soup was loaded with tortilla strips and cheese, you can tell the broth was homemade and tasted great, if a little salty.
The quesadilla was loaded with cheese and carne asada, delicious!
All in all, try this place, delicious...
Read moreFound this location on Yelp and knew we had to find it. Even after seeing the great ratings, we pulled up and were a little bit unsure if we were in the right place - this is definitely not what I would expect for the typical atmosphere of the Mammoth Lakes area. What we found was a market attached to an apartment building and it was busy! Trucks of construction workers and lots of locals told us we were in the right place! We are taco truck people at least one time a week, and this place was so over the top good - we went twice in the same day!!! Prices were so affordable, a great find in an area that had somewhat pricey dining out options. We visited several times and tried many things on the menu and were never disappointed! There is a toppings bar so you customize your street tacos just the way you like them. Outside seating for dining there or grab take out to enjoy in many of the outdoor spaces in Mammoth. This place will be on our list for future...
