Great park to start your Manitou Springs adventure, free parking is nearby with the free bus shuttle as well. Park is regularly clean and don't see too many folks have any issue here. Nice playground as well for the kids to burn off some energy or sit around in the shade and enjoy local entertainment in various street performers. Now only reason I don't rate this higher is tragically the already limited parking can become a nightmare during certain events such as the 1% aristocratic alcoholics festival also known as the wine festival where they close off all the free parking, the entire park, and nearby roads for money really. If you can't walk as far as one normally would avoid any days with these or take an alternate means to Manitou that day as paid parking and any free spot will be consumed during the day from early morning hours. With that nearby is a mineral springs that is near an gazebo that is great for photos. Worth going...
Read moreThis park is at the east side of downtown, just past City Hall. The parking here is free, and unless you have mobility issues, you can easily walk anywhere in downtown from here. If you are challenged with walking, on the east side of this park is where the free shuttle into town and to the Manitou Incline picks up and drops off. The park itself is rather nondescript. There is some playground equipment which gets a lot of use from children. There are a number of benches for adults to sit on and watch over their children. There are not many picnic tables - maybe two or three. I do not recall seeing any grills. The availability of shade is limited to the south side of the park, along Fountain Creek. It seems that many people come to the park stay a little while, and move on due to the lack of picnic tables and...
Read moreWell kept park. Great for relaxing with or without children. Access to the creek provides great opportunities for everyone to enjoy a quick foot soak or endless adventures for that wondering mind that ALL children have. If water is not your thing, try yoga in the shade while the children play on the well designed jungle gym or just kick back on a blanket or on one of the many available benches. Bring your dog? Well they supply the poo bags for your convience. My only complaint, no water source for drinking. However, even without the water, it is a great location with lots of shade and several options for play...
