Was really looking forward to trying this place out. Really wishing we would have skipped it. Extremely overpriced for the quantity of food and the size of drinks. Trying to get anyone to take care of us was like pulling teeth and the bar was near empty. Ordered some extra bread and sliced sausage for a cheeseboard that took about 20 min to receive after already waiting 25 min for sliced cheese. Ordered a mead and had a can and empty glass slammed down in front of me to fill. Hubby ordered a mixed rum drink that came in a glass barely bigger than a shot glass that cost us $9. And the staff was more interested in hanging out with a couple of their buddies that were rude and drunk. Took over an hour for us to only have one drink each- because we couldn’t catch anyone to take care of us and to have a cheese board. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. $80 for 2 drinks (one that was a cheap, canned, and mediocre one and one that was tiny) and a cheese board is outrageous. Extremely disappointed. Gave two stars because the decor is very unique and the little bit of overpriced food we did have was tasty. The rest was a waste of time.
Edit: To come into a “wine bar” and have one can of mead dropped at our table and to not be able to order other wines was disappointing. We were in no hurry and wanted to spend most of our evening there. I understand good food takes a while but we were only able to order a cheese board and couldn’t get any entrees. It also shouldn’t take that long for a second order of salami that just needs to be sliced so we can finish our cheese. We couldn’t even get another round of drinks-we tried. We had to go to Mona Lisa Fondue to finally have fun, food, and drinks and be cared for. That saved our night. *four course meal for two and dessert and 3 glasses of wine each for $180 and 2 1/2 hours of fun. Or 1 hour of trying to get service, 1 mediocre drink each, and a cheese board with extra meat- $80. Won’t make that mistake again. Read moreTonight I brought myself and my family to Swirl. This was my favorite restaurant in Manitou Springs. I go there because it has always been a friendly place with great salads. I have always ordered my stake rare and substituted the blue cheese for goat cheese. When my dinner came this evening, the stake on the salad was medium well and they had not given me the cheese I ordered. I politely told the waitress to replace it with the correct order. She took my plate and said no problem. Instead of returning with what I'd originally asked for, a woman who I later found out was the manager by the name of Breezy came to my table and told me they never do rare stake and that she had already explained this to me in the past. I had never seen or spoken to the woman in my life, nor did the waitress tell me this when I ordered. I further explained that I couldn't eat the blue cheese and had ordered goats cheese. This rude woman said well we put goat cheese on top of the salad too. I never raised my voice or used anything but polite language to her. She started getting frustrated with me and furthermore asked me to stop escalating. I wasn't even upset at this point. I told her all she needed to do was just give me what I had originally ordered. She just cept arguing with me. I finally told her I no longer wanted anything as my family was halfway through their meal. She got even nastier after that. By this time I was feeling myself also getting upset. I politely said just take my meal off the bill. I then told her I just needed to step outside excuseded myself. I did this because she was so rude and I didnt want to argue with her anymore. As I told her I was going to leave, she said "ya, I think you should go". Read moreSo I can't say anything about the food in this place because we never made it that far. We looked this place up and my wife was really excited to go. We walked in and it only had one group of people in the building. We stood their for awhile and then told to sit anywhere. Every table was dirty and most of them had left over cups from previous customers and no Ice, so I am assuming that it had been a minute from them cleaning up after they left. I expressed my concert to my Wife about the place. She stated we might be leaving. We then witnessed a staff behind the counter take a shot of alcohol. Needless to say we got up to leave. The staff tried to chase after us to stop us we had to tell him multiple times we changed our minds and they wouldn't let up. To get them to stop we had to say it was a family emergency and we had to leave ASAP. FOLLOW UP- I did have the restaurant reach out I did go to the website and contact them through email with what I am assuming is management and explained in more detail what happened. They asked us to come back at a discount to give them another chance. After a few days I got a reply saying it was investigated and addressed and the issues we had were fixed and would not happen again. Even though we were contacted and told it was addressed, personally I am not sure how I feel about taking the risk when that happened in front of customers. I do appreciate the steps taken to address and fix what happened. I worry about going back saying I am the one that had a bad experience and then trusting the staff I can't see. Personally I hoped the place would have been a better experience for us. I hope that they did addressed what happened and you go here and enjoy it and that they did in fact fix the issues because it seems to have the potential to be great.
