Contrary to what many might think, I believe that the rundown state of the park adds a kind of mystique and charm like visiting a post apocalyptic Chernobyl esque ruin. There are very few visiting the park so you can bike freely the entire location and leisurely admire the scale of the mississippi model. It's a splendorous place and the bridge going to it is quite an amazing view. One can only imagine how great it would be if the water was running and the mississippi model wasn't clogged with debris along its path.

Just be careful of the homeless who are camping here and not to intrude into their space accidentally around the closed museum. Also the elevators and escalators do not work on the island. The elevator across the bridge is still...

The river walk, walking along a to scale miniature Mississippi river, is really interesting. That being said the whole park on mud Island is in shambles. The restrooms were open and clean enough. The pedestrian bridge over to mud Island was nice. The escalators and elevators were not working. No museum on this side, no gift shop. The informational signage about the river was 80% readable. A few of the signs were too damaged to read. My kids enjoyed waking in the little river and eventually getting to the ocean. I did not pack enough water. It is a long walk over and back to...
