Cache 42 Downtown Express Lounge — Restaurant in Memphis

This is my first time visiting the establishment and I called first and I was told they closed at 3 on Sundays and reopen for dinner at 5pm. The place is small but the red and black decor is a nice vibe. Arrived at 4:57 pm and when I walked in there were people already sitting and mingling at the bar. I already knew what I wanted therefore I ordered the Cache Flight $35. I asked the waiter did she already placed my order when the other lady arrived as she needed more time. After one lady ordered oxtails, and the other lady ordered shrimp pasta, The waitress did inform the other 2 guests that there was no Oxtails and no pasta and no eggrolls when she initally took their order although it was on the menu and we had gotten there on time during dinner time. So we then asked her then what can we order??? I also ordered 2 lemon drops and I asked the waiter would there be an additional charge for other flavors she replied no so I ordered the blueberry and peach flavor. One lady finally got her chicken wings at 5:50 pm. I asked could we pay for our meals as we had to be at the orpheum by 6:30. The waitress came to give me my bill but I never once got the physical receipt until AFTER I paid it was tezt to me. Keep in mind it is now 6pm and I still have not received my food. My food did not arrived until 6:05-6:10pm. It makes me wonder did the waitress not send my order in until or as the same time as the other lady who ordered 10 minutes later. They do NOT inform you that the 18-20% gratuity is already included while paying your bil. I didn't receive my receipt til afterthe fact. Yes the food was good but I had to eat it really fast as I had to leave. After looking at my receipt I saw that there indeed was a upcharge of additional $1.50 for each flavor of lemon drop, S11 tip that was already included that i wasnt aware of in addition to the extra tip I included, my bill was $90. They should provide you with a paper receipt before you pay. My receipt showed that my order was placed at 5pm so how is it that my food was over an hour late. The waitress kept apoligizing but wasnt thrilled at the overall experience. The other lady never received...

I visited on opening day. Chicken pasta was amazing, half size salad is hugeeee. Reasonable prices. I didn’t like how the pasta is its own dish and it’s more money to add your protein of choice… the cosmo was stronggggg and delicious. Server was sweet/polite and the owner I believe his name was Jason comped us an extra drink because it took a little long for our food to come out. All in all I will visit again.

UPDATE: Update: visited on 9/9/2025.. this visit wasn't the best, my server this time idk, the restaurant ain't that big and it was empty af and I still had to go find her twice ... me and 2 kids arrived at 12. My kids are homeschooled so we look forward to getting out and enjoying the neighborhood. We ordered from the kids menu and the appetizer menu(half off lunch hours) to only find out they were only serving the lunch menu at the time and only buffalo egg rolls from the appetizer menu.. kids didn't like anything from the lunch menu (not kid friendly at all). So I canceled everything and asked for the kids drinks and just fries and they still proceeded to bring out the egg rolls and ceasar salad(which came in a small black saucer instead of the big read pasta bowl like my 1st visit) The fries had black pepper on them. The drink was amazing though but not enough for the not so good experience. This was my final visit, I can't deal with the false advertising of a menu. Caché 42 Downtown was nothing short of amazing ! I was honestly skeptical about going initially, but decided to give it a shot. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with an ambiance that exudes sophistication and charm. The hostess was very friendly and polite. The attention to detail in the decor was stunning. I was greeted by my server and we ordered cocktails and an appetizer while we waited on our dinner to arrive. I ordered Oxtails and my date ordered the Salmon and Shrimp. Both meals were simply delicious. Those dishes seemed to be thoughtfully curated and beautifully presented and they even came with a flower on each plate. I was really impressed and I consider myself hard to please! The food was filled with savoring flavors. My server was nice, friendly and if I had to pick her again, I would definitely do so. I would have loved to recommend her, but sadly I’m terrible with names. Overall, my experience was great! I plan on sharing more of my experiences on my future visits, because I know I will be back for a returning visit. Even though this was just one night, my date and I really enjoyed the experience . I’m rooting for this new downtown business to continue serving excellent food, providing exceptional service and catering to customers with their great ambiance and vibe!!
