On this trip I was solo and expecting my mother and Aunt the next day. I arrived around 6pm because I was at the hospital majority of the evening with a sick family member I purposely came to see. This was a 6.5 hour drive for me, alone, the day after Thanksgiving. I arrived in Memphis roughly at 1230 that afternoon. Now it's 6pm and im checking in. I'm a Marriott Bonvoy Elite member👀. Upon booking my reservation, prior to arrival, I requested an upgrade for a corner king room with a balcony OR a king with a balcony on a high floor for both. Keep in mind it's 35 degrees outside at night. Valet was amazing and helpful. Check in was a breeze and welcoming. I receive my room....it's on the second floor. I said fine...no biggie. Get to my room it is an accessible room. Very clean but Something I didn't need, with a roll in shower. The street seemed to be right there at me when I looked outside. And the room had a petition wall as you came in the door before you could even see what room looked like. I was initially creeped out. The room was extremely spacious but I did not like it at all. Went back downstairs and told the lady, Andreal, my concerns and received another room, king with a balcony. This room was on a higher floor, nice and clean but the room was cold. The thermostat was set on 68 degrees I turn it up to 75 and after 10min I notice no change in temperature. And the unit is loud! I'm still in my coat since I arrived. At this point from valet to the second room 30 to 40min has elapsed and still have not relaxed. I call downstairs and tell the nice lady my issue and maintenance was sent to my room. He confirms the unit is blowing air and no heat and let's her know downstairs. Now, I'm going back downstairs for the second time for a third room. It's after 7 at this point and she happily gives me another room on a high floor still and it's a double queen with no balcony. Upon entering this room it's cold as well but also very clean. The room did heatt up some after setting the temp at 80. As I go to close the curtains I find a huge windshield crack in the windows and all the latches on both windows are UNLOCKED ON THE 5TH FLOOR! I Immediately called downstairs and told them my findings and that the room was ok. I settle in for the night and maybe around 2am I'm cold. I take extra cover in the room from the other bed and put it on my bed, turned the heat to 85 at this point and sleep until the morning. I did not rest well at all. Not only was I still cool, the unit knocked all night, and the room was cool at temp set at 85!! I was livid! I should have been sweating and suffocating at that temperature. At that point the staff had done all they could do in my eyes and had been very nice and accommodating. It was time to call corporate. I gave them all of the details and applauded the staff as well. I let them know the hotel was very clean. I let them know I was highly disappointed in this property and that this had never happened to me before at a Marriott property. I also told them my mother was arriving and she absolutely would not be staying in these conditions and asked to be transferred to another property. They were understanding and I was transferred to an other property within the hour. Because of the amazing staff and the cleanliness i give them a 3. There is no complimentary breakfast. And the Starbucks they have there, the breakfast items were not appetizing and overpriced. They did have a market and the selection was ok. Valet was $37 per day. I had to request my second day refund from valet not through the hotel. Overall I would not stay at this...
Read moreI did a block of rooms of 15 rooms Nov. 5-11, 2024. I was told one price when I signed a contract, but when the final invoice was sent, it was a lower price. I only reviewed the total cost when the invoice was sent and not the nightly rate. The system was down for over a week. The sales manager Elizabeth Bowdre reached out on Nov. 15th and stated the system was back up and that I owed them an additional $1,432.04. Elizabeth has harassed me on the phone and an email stating that I need to pay. This hotel has NO customer service skills nor professionalism. They have treated me with the utmost of disrespect for a mistake on their end. No one, not even the GM, James Barton wants to take the responsibility. I’m pursuing several civil actions and sanctions against them.
Also along with them wanting additional money, house keeping entered my room without my permission. I had a do not disturb on my door the entire time during my stay. On Nov. 6th, I finally reported that there were blood stains on the carpet and on the chair, see pictures below. When I returned to my room later that night on the 6th, I noticed the chair was changed and the carpet half way cleaned. Even though I reported it, my room was entered without my permission. This is an invasion of privacy. This incident has been reported to Marriott ethics and related agencies.
Two more incidents with this hotel: The front desk checked me into room 422 on Nov. 5th. All of my items were in the room. I received a phone call from another person who was apart of the room block who had the same last name but different first name. The front desk assigned the other traveler to room 422 as well. This is a safety issue. What if I didn’t know the person who was in the room? When I told Elizabeth about it she wanted me to pay for another room. I told her a room is already paid for, I just need to get moved to the open room. Elizabeth treated me like I didn’t have good sense and really belittle me as a paying customer. Plus Elizabeth tried to make me pay an additional incidental fee when I already ran my card for one room plus the other Williams ran her card. After about 30 minutes of talking, showing where the money was drafted out, the front desk and Elizabeth figured out how to check me in. Checked my account on the 5th, the hotel took an additional $860 from my account without my permission. They used the card that I paid an incidental fee to authorize an additional charge. When I asked why it was taken out, no one could explain why it happen and they couldn’t reverse it. The GM James Barton did not help at all. He did not try to accommodate or give any type of discount or refund. Lois the front end manager was the only one that was helpful! I had to call my bank and file a claim to get the money back my bank.
I’m having this hotel investigated on money laundering, environmental safety, and other customer relation allegations. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!!
Also while I was trying to get my room and the additional incidental fee situated, I heard another customer saying that a staff took $1,500 from them and they did not authorize it. This hotel has issues with handling money and fraudulent using customer credit/debit cards. Elizabeth Bowdre and James Barton need to be put on admin leave without pay!!! Again, DO NOT STAY HERE!!! I don’t recommend this...
Read moreThe lighting is very poor but other than that, the staff was amazing! Especially the valet girl she was super sweet. I didn’t have an issue until my last day, I was in Memphis for business and personal reasons. I noticed when I came back to my room after going to dinner that some of my jewelry was missing including a Cartier ring I got for graduation. I have Aspergers so eye contact is a big issue with me and social confrontation. I had requested a 2 PM check out for medical purposes and I quickly decided to check out earlier because I felt like my privacy had been compromised so when I leave I just simply mention to the nice front desk people that my jewelry had come up missing and if they happen to find it or if someone turned it in that if they would please contact me because it was nice jewelry but it wasn’t the most expensive things I had. She immediately got hostile tone Witt me assuring her girls would never steal but wouldn’t let me finish and the more she became hostile and confrontational my anxiety kicked in to the point where I had to just walk off without any clarification and I was walking out the door she kept speaking about me and also put on a “customer service “ type tone and said thanks for staying with us.. My employer and myself have already called corporate and filed complaints with the hotel. I’m never one to assume the worst of someone but also know that it’s also my fault for not using the safe. I wouldn’t recommend if you wear jewelry that cost more than H&M cause you might...
