Hotel AKA Brickell — Attraction in Miami

My husband and I are Diamond members through Hilton and our stay at the Conrad Hotel in Miami was awful! We love the Conrad in Ft. Lauderdale and decided we would give the Miami one a try for a getaway weekend. Bad mistake! We will never stay at that Conrad Hotel EVER again! First off when we arrived the front desk guy was very friendly but we were quickly told that he was not from Florida and was just there filling in due to them being short staffed...He checked us in then told us our luggage would be brought right up to our room. We waited an hour and still no luggage. We were hungry and ready to get something to eat so we called the front desk asking about our luggage and was told again our luggage is on its way up. After, another 40 min of waiting we called the front desk again. Five minutes later they finally brought our luggage to our room. We were told that our luggage was taken to the wrong room by mistake and they couldn't find it. We were appalled that our valuables were left unattended! All they could say to us was they were so sorry for the confusion. The next day we called the front desk for a bucket of ice. Little did I know calling the front desk for something that simple would be quite an ordeal! It took several calls to the front desk asking where the ice was before the front desk staff (the guy who checked us in) personally came to our room (1 1/2 hours later) apologizing and stating they have over 200 guest requesting service and they are trying to accommodate everyone. He said they are so sorry for the poor service we have had with our stay and he will personally make sure that we get points back on our account for the problems we had with not only with our luggage but now with the ice bucket too. We said ok and thanked him then asked for an extra blanket which they brought right up...To this day 2 weeks later we have not received the points as promised! Check out was also a disaster! Went to check out with a different front desk personnel. You could tell she was new and not sure what to do. She greeted me and said have a nice day. I looked at her and said I would like a receipt for my stay and I want to know how many points we are getting back for the bad service as promised. She said she had no idea and went and whispered to the Manager Hugo. He came over and said he needed speak to (Rick I think was his name) regarding the points back, but he will make sure we get our points and gave me the receipt (all lies just to get me to leave the front desk)..The bill was quite high and I noticed the breakfast that is free to Diamond member was charged. I pointed this out to Hugo and again was apologized to for their mistake. My bill was corrected. I told Hugo that we will never be back to this Conrad!... All I can say is stay clear of this Conrad hotel and go to the one in Ft. Lauderdale if you want top notch service. We have been to that Conrad several times since it was built. You will be disappointed if you are looking for a beautiful room and the 4 star service Conrad Hotels are known for. Breakfast was thankfully offered and had just opened the day of our arrival due to being closed from the pandemic. The servers were wonderful even though we were told they were new as well...This Conrad was under staffed and their people are not very well trained! *The highlight of our stay was the parking attendants. They were on point and gave us good suggestions on where to eat. Our car was brought to us very quickly whenever we requested it....BUT Beware of the parking fee. They charge 45.00 for valet parking plus a parking tax and an additional state sales tax which is ridiculous and very high just to have your car valet parked! To begin, my stay was horrendous. I check in Friday night, late. Once I arrive I am greeted by valet whom asks if I would like to either valet or self park. I decide to self park only because I did not have the appropriate cash to tip, I pull in and the nightly charge to park was $30. Not expecting this, considering most hotels validate parking or have their own parking lot I expected not to have this charge and it was not included or noted when I booked. After my 3rd elevator ride, I reach my floor after a long day of traveling and my floor smells disgusting. Once I get to my room I see a sign that they decide that on the 20th (a Saturday) they are conducting fire alarm testing. Saturday morning, my partner and I leave for the morning for breakfast and come back to the alarm, lights and announcements for AT LEAST 2-3 hours. I booked a hotel to STAY at a hotel not to be burdened and forced to leave because of the alarm testing. Also, a man barged into my room WHILE I WAS CHANGING to check the fire alarm. Once we come back, I spoke to the front desk and made them aware of the parking situation, I paid $30 to self park one night when valet was $42 and was good for the entire time of my stay. I was not made aware of this, and brought it up to the front desk’s attention. I was offered “complimentary parking” and a free dinner... free parking that SHOULD be validated for hotel guests. After we try and see the light in our stay, my partner and I decide to go up to the pool, mind you, to get to the pool you have to go to the parking lot that you have to pay for and through 3 elevators. Poorly designed and the pool was not what was pictured, it was dirty, the water was DISGUSTING and a handful of chairs were available. People were laying on the concrete and the jacuzzi water was GREEN. My girlfriend and I have had enough at this point and I contact Hotwire because I wanted to go home THAT BAD. The Conrad’s answer to this was half of our money back, free parking and the “free dinner” that I did not receive. I am disgusted with the Conrad’s customer service, I have yet to hear from a manager or an apology from anyone associated with the hotel. Once I left the hotel, I could not tell you how relieved I was to get out of there. I feel for anyone who decides to stay here, I cannot believe this hotel is 4.5 out of 5 stars. I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel AKA Brickell and I must say, it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The impeccable service, stunning accommodations, and wonderful staff exceeded all of my expectations. Already a residence at the Philadelphia location. I expected nothing but the best from AKA.

First and foremost, I would like to extend special recognition to Melike Ariz from the front desk. She was an absolute gem and went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was perfect. From the moment we checked in until the time we left, she was incredibly attentive and provided exceptional service. Melike's warm and friendly demeanor made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, and her willingness to assist with any request was truly impressive.

The hotel itself is truly a hidden gem. The stylish and modern design creates a luxurious yet comfortable ambiance. Our room was beautifully appointed, with elegant furnishings and top-notch amenities. The attention to detail in every aspect of the room was truly impressive, and it really felt like a home away from home.

The location of Hotel AKA Brickell is also fantastic. Situated in the heart of the vibrant Brickell neighborhood, we had easy access to a plethora of dining, shopping, and entertainment options. Despite being centrally located, the hotel offered tranquility and a peaceful atmosphere, allowing us to relax and unwind after a day of exploring the city.

The hotel staff, beyond Melike, were all fantastic as well. Everyone we encountered was friendly, professional, and genuinely seemed to care about making our stay memorable. The level of service provided by the entire team was absolutely top-notch.

Overall, I cannot recommend Hotel AKA Brickell enough. It truly surpassed all expectations and made our stay in Miami an unforgettable one. If you want a five-star experience with exceptional service, beautiful accommodations, and a prime location, this is the hotel for you.
