Planet Fitness — Attraction in Miami

My name is Nik/Nikolina, and I recently made the Allapattah Planet Fitness my home gym for the past 3 months.

From the very beginning I was received with the utmost professionalism and warm welcome.

The location is in such a convenient and prime piece of commercial real estate for a gym! Located right along the Miami River way with all sorts of shopping, dining, and aesthetic services. I love this place both the gym and the shopping center. It is clean, not pretentious, great view of the boats, and has great security guards!

This review is specifically for the MORNING CREW/TEAM. Rashon and Jason…and of course my girls Lisbeth and the facilities team member (I never got her name).

Everyday Rashon remembers who I am and exactly what I start my workout routine with every day. He is observant, thoughtful, detailed, and professional. I have witnessed his warmness to not just myself, but to so many other members and his own team members. I never see him slack off. He goes beyond what is expected of his role. That is someone who truly takes pride in himself and his work ethic/principles. He is also humble (a rare trait these days!) which shows he is secure with who he is and how he does things. The windows to the doors are consistently cleaned, inventory always stocked, dumbbells always re-racked, cleaning supplies always re-filled. He is also exceptionally good at multi-tasking and staying cool & calm under pressure.

Jason has excellent communication skills and knowledge of the establishment. He helped me switch over from my previous home gym to the Allapattah gym. He is efficient, professional, helpful, and maintains a neutral disposition - which is such an important characteristic when dealing with so many members (especially difficult ones!) he stands his ground.

The facilities team member (I don’t know her name) always greets me with a smile and hello every morning in the locker room. She works hard and does it with such a beautiful attitude. She also has cool socks! One time I even saw her save a shampoo/soap bottle someone left behind in the shower. Instead of throwing it away she stored it in the closet in case they came back for it. She could have easily thrown it away. She asked if it was mine, I said no. I was so impressed by her REGARD. Also a rare trait these days.

The morning crew runs a tight shift, thus making a really beautiful experience for the members. Rules are enforced and the gym shines more. Strong collective.

They deserve a raise for their exemplary work ethic, united team work, and strong individual characteristics. And if they don’t get a raise at Planet Fitness I know they will certainly continue to get blessed anywhere they go.

Bravo Allapattah gym morning crew. You and your gym definitely stand out...

UPDATE:

Absolutely nothing has been done. Locker 46 with person living in it still there. Two people at front desk today..girl sitting in a chair on her phone doing instagram…the other guy paid no attention yo me scanning my pass (you don’t need me to send you emails…look at cameras!!!). Several doors broken in men’s lockers…one sink hasn’t worked in 2 months. Dirty because only one woman cleaning during the day while the rest of the staff plays games. Guy washing his laundry in shower for an hour!!!!I It is the guy living in locker 46. Weights all over the place..paper to clean machines not available.

Awful compared to other locations!! Please do something or I will call health department to check the facility.

I love planet fitness but this location is awful. A few examples:

Men’s shower area is always filthy. They have one person that cleans the entire gym…impossible to do it all. Also homeless people mentioned below wash their laundry in showers so often you have to wait for a long time to have a shower. Unlike other locations, I would say half of lockers are always locked (there are many lockers that homeless people use to store items)….like locker 46. Managers never present. For example, this weekend, tanning area doesn’t work. They can’t access the system. When asked why they don’t contact the manager? Response: “ they don’t work on the weekends and will not answer the phone”. I have a black membership, but don’t pay for it. They allow anyone to use massage and tanning areas…they don’t check your membership at all. Incredibly understaffed location and most of those guys chat at the front desk and often allow their buddies into the gym for free. Weight lifting area out of control…people take several weights and leave them all over the gym.

Extremely Disappointed – Too Many Broken Machines!

I’ve been a member at Planet Fitness for a while, but this location has become a huge letdown. Walking into the gym, I expect to be able to work out—not to find multiple machines out of order with no sign of when they’ll be fixed.

The stair climber? Broken. The triceps press? Broken. Treadmills? Multiple out of order. Massage chairs? Broken And that’s just what I captured in photos.

One of the machines is completely broken, marked as “temporarily out of order” but judging by the dust and lack of repairs, it’s been that way for a while. The locker room is a mess, with broken lockers and trash left inside. Clearly, maintenance is not a priority. Equipment handles are literally crumbling, with torn and peeling grips that make them uncomfortable and even dangerous to use.

For a gym that promotes “No Judgment” and a “Great Workout Experience,” it sure doesn’t feel like it when half the equipment is unavailable. What’s worse is that these machines seem to stay broken for weeks without any updates or urgency to fix them.

It’s sad that reviews like this even have to be written just to get action taken. The annual fee and monthly payments should be enough to maintain the equipment properly, yet it seems like fixing machines is not a priority.

This issue will be forwarded to corporate because members deserve better. People pay for a full gym experience, not just a few working machines. If things don’t change, many will have no choice but to take their memberships elsewhere.
