DISCLAIMER: LONG REVIEW
I lived at Brighton Place Apartments for nearly an entire year. The cost of rent per month was never an issue. The fees that were attached to our bill each month (parking fee and other basic fees) were not an issue either. However, the lack of training and communication between tenant to office, office to staff, then staff/office back to tenant was horrible at times. two months after getting married and having my wife move in she became sick and was running a high fever. Our AC unit suddenly stopped working. So I called the emergency maintenance, because at this point the office was closed, and was met by a rude man stating that he couldn't come take a look at it because he didn't have a key to get into the office and get tools. The next morning I called the office to talk about the excuse used by their maintenance personnel. Instead I was told that I shouldn't have called him because he isn't qualified to service our AC unit. This I could understand and they were nice enough to send a technician to our apartment within the week. I am not upset about the AC or the office. I'm upset over the fact that he was rude over the phone and chalked it up to him not having keys to get tools.
Everything was fine for a couple months and we actually enjoyed living there until the snow storms started to creep into the valley.
On one occasion, I had the day off of work and notice that a couple people were slipping on ice all along the walkway in front of our building. I in turn called the office and began to ask them if someone from grounds-keeping could come lay some salt down. The office girl claimed to be new and so she wasn't quite sure who to talk to about that. However she did say that she would tell management about the issue and it would be taken care of. Unfortunately I never saw anyone come out near our building and lay down salt. So near the end of the day I called the office again and was speaking to someone from maintenance. He then informed me that they had spread salt yesterday and that they had left salt by our stairwell for individual need. I hadn't noticed this when I had left earlier to go grocery shopping and told him so. I was met with excuses on short staffed and was told that it would be taken care of. I never saw anyone come out but the next morning there was a bag of salt that was on our stairwell. So I decided to be a good tenant and neighbor and just spread salt myself whenever I felt necessary.
Once again, I am not mad at the fact that I laid salt down, or that the office girl was new. I had an issue with the fact that instead of simply bringing the salt immediately or getting a grounds-keeper to bring some to our stairwell that night, this employee did nothing and claimed that he hadn't heard about the issue of the units having ice on their walkways.
These are just two examples of why I feel that these apartments get a 3 star review. Alehi is amazing and always courteous and kind. Along with the receptionist. But the maintenance staff and some office managers really need to remember that we as tenants have rights and services promised to us when we put our names on contracts. We pay you and you provide a safe and functional environment for...
Read morePlease, reconsider your options before you sign a lease here... It all started, when my friend moved in the first of March this year. They have their little golf carts to carry people around to view apartments for potential residents. The man at the front, told my friend that they were going to walk to check out the apartment, it was right around the corner. Well, it wasn't... It was second to last building on the very end. My 42 year old diabetic and sick friend was paraded up and down the complex. Later, after the lease was signed...they laughed and told her they made her walk because they thought she was a secret shopper. Big red flag Next, she did a walk through of the apartment... not to shabby. No more than a week later... the shower in her bathroom started to SQUEAL, and shake the shower head. She can't use her bathroom. She called maintenance and they ??Replaced the shower head?? When she got home... it still squealed. I guess they didn't turn it on to even find out what the problem was. To this day (5 months later) she still can't use her shower. (after 5 calls to the office- nothing has been resolved). One morning she started to hear the toilet bubble in the bathroom... she walked in to see that BUBBLES were SPEWING from the toilet!!! She called maintenance immediately. They responded with a note: "You guys are using too much soap." What are they talking about? Then... The dryer vent is clogged... they still haven't unclogged the dryer vent (FIRE HAZARD). Then, at last... new neighbors move in. They have 15 children... and you never see the adults. All day, all night (until 11pm) there are stomping, running, screaming, fighting... (Should be illegal to have that many children living in the small apartment.) The kids threw a glass jar over the edge of the balcony, just off the edge of my friends apartment. Her kids friend cut his foot up on the glass, as it was in the bushes. Again... my friend called maintenance on Wednesday... no one showed up to clean it up. She called again on Saturday... they said "We will get on that right away" and for two hours... no one showed up. She cleaned it up herself, put it in a bag and placed it on her neighbors porch above. Her neighbors, then threw it onto her porch. SO, she walked up stairs and tried to talk to the neighbors about the glass. No one in the house hold spoke English.... well until she left, and someone called her a "Son of a B". Angrily, she left the bag on their porch and walked down to the management building. She told them what happened, and they drove her back to her apartment to see if they threw the glass down again. (Which they didn't). Later that afternoon, my friend was napping after all of the commotion and there was a knock at her door. (No peep hole-- even after numerous attempts) There was management with an eviction notice standing with two police officers. She received a fine of $75.00 from the complex. WHAT?!?!? They said they were being nice, and they could have fined her a lot more. Since she moved in to this complex there has been nothing but trouble. From the first moment she stepped onto the property, she has been...
Read moreSTAY AWAY from this complex. My friend and I moved in together at Brighton Place, and for the most part we kept to ourselves. A couple horrific experiences followed, mostly having to due with the awful mannered trashy girl working the front desk (who I will refer to as "T" going forward). This immature and entitled girl thought she had the right to walk all over the tenants, and why she was hired is a mystery.
One of our neighbors slipped on a patch of Ice right outside the stairs and bled all over the sidewalk. It was about 11 AM, you would think they would salt the ice by then, but they simply do not care. The leftover blood froze, and sat there for at least 2 weeks before being cleaned. DISGUSTING. They do not maintain the grounds, you will find trash EVERYWHERE and Hispanic children playing in it.
The apartments themselves have NO lighting other than one light in the kitchen. The electrical sockets in the new buildings are also very poorly installed and cords will simply fall out unless you TAPE them on. At least 3 times we found a notice on our door indicating that if we didn't supervise our children, we would be fined. WE DON'T HAVE CHILDREN.
The day we were moving out, we received a call from "t", asking us if it was alright if the maintenance workers start working on the apartment before we were scheduled to move out. This bothered me, and I also let her know we would need an extra day due to being called in to work. She indicated that that was not OK and we would be fined (which never happened, as the paper we signed said that we could do this, and we would just be pro-rated). She then threatened to send the maintenance men in REGARDLESS of if we moved out by 10 AM. I let her know the legal implications of her doing this if we were still paying and she hung up.
Lucky me, of course they sent T in to assess our deposit charges. We were charged a total of $1800 DOLLARS! Being in the maintenance business myself, I explained that I would follow through with the charges in court, as most of them were completely ridiculous. They quickly dropped a few of the obviously erroneous charges that were assessed because of the grudge the management team held.
To recap;
Blood on the sidewalk for weeks, Unsafe and disgusting environment, Completely immature and power hungry staff (likely very little education) Poorly renovated...
