Mook Art Gallery — Attraction in Milpitas

I enjoyed walking around and seeing the large variety of paintings that were available for viewing and for sale. Art appreciation is a very personal thing in that different people like different things. I think there is probably a little bit here for every taste, and it would be well worth visiting. Because I have a highly restrictive income, the prices for things are simply out of my budget. However, I do think the pricing on most items is very worth their price tags. If I had the money, I would be hard pressed to choose which ones to take home. I did have a few favorites, though.

I wish the artists offered smaller versions of their paintings in prints. This would be an option for an artist to make more money while waiting for their painting to sell. It also allows consumers who appreciate their art and who want to take it home but have smaller budgets. In addition to prints, painters could also offer post cards of their paintings for sale too. This also brings in money for the artists and is still fun for folks on tiny budgets to take home or even to mail to their friends, giving the artist more exposure.

I had a very special scarf that I wanted to frame and put on the wall. I visited many places and framing stores but they either weren’t up for a challenge or were charging me a very high price. I drove all the way from the East Bay to Mook Galery and it was worth it. They have done a wonderful job with my scarf for a very reasonable price. Mr. Ku and his wife, Terry, were the epitome of kindness, when they allowed me to scan some of my oil pastel paintings to submit to another gallery artist open call. They had never met me previously, and were most gracious, helpful, and kind in allowing me to scan my paintings! I learned about their artist daughter, 'Peaches', who is quiet gifted with oils, attended art school in NYC, and takes portrait commissions!
