Came to the Great Mall on a rainy Sunday and it seems that malls are popular on rainy days. This day in particular because California has been in a drought for some time and I think a lot of people were planning to go out on the weekend but being surprised by the rain they decided hit the mall. So every mom, the Bay area was quite crowded. Decide to stop by here because they had a pretty good window display and the wife thought she would like a pastry. Coming in. There was a short line and we agree with the sign. That said, due to labor shortages employees will not slice bread for customers. That's fine. Not a problem. She decided to get up palmier cookie and she said it was pretty good. I am giving this place three stars because of atmosphere. Typically I don't rate places based on that. But I will admit that my bakery experiences have gone to the higher end. Bakeries provide one of the warmest coziest casual eating experiences that you can get out there coupled with a good pastry or bread. It is a total experience that I prefer to have when I dine out or am just stopping by for a quick snack. Anderson bakery presented a bit more like a fast food bakery. Two concepts that I don't think should necessarily go together given the age of boutique bakeries that we seem to be in at the moment. However their baking offerings were visually appealing. And I also saw them put out some interesting and unique offerings such as cheese breads and like while we were standing in line getting ready to place our order. I don't think you'll have any issues with the food, but if you're looking for atmosphere, this is...
Read moreI visited this location with my husband since I really like Andersen's cheese danishes. We ordered iced coffee and it was quite sour which makes me think their coffee beans are either too old or low quality. I also got Turkey Avocado Swiss sandwich. The flavor was okay, but I noticed something dark so I opened up the sandwich and it turned out it was a rotten piece of lettuce. By that time my husband had completed his half of sandwich. I took the sandwich with rotten leaf to the guy who was making it to show and they seemed pretty indifferent. No apologies or anything, they just said "Okay". They did offer to replace the sandwich, but I was full so I didn't want another one. My husband got indigestion after either coffee or sandwich, so we probably won't be getting it again. Pastry quality is good. I like their apple and cheese danishes, so I'll be returning for those for sure. It's a decent place to get a snack. I really hope they'll make adjustments after I showed...
Read moreI would have given zero stars if possible. This was the worst customer experience I’ve ever had. I specifically ordered an extra hot coffee but was given a cold one instead. When I brought it up, the cashier said they only have one temperature setting and offered to microwave it. I declined, and they refused to refund the money.
To make things worse, the staff had a rude and dismissive attitude — as if you’re expected to accept whatever they serve without question. It also felt like they didn’t want us to stay in the store. We were a group of five, including three elderly people, and they asked us not to use a larger table that was completely empty and not reserved. It was clear they didn’t want us to sit and spend time there.
If you value respectful service and basic hospitality, avoid this place at all costs.
