Public transportation takes you 4 or so blocks away from the bridge. It was an easy, public walk. I felt 100% safe. I would encourage anyone considering this to do it! The weather was perfect on the day I went. We took the stone bridge across the river and had lunch in a little outdoor cafe on the other side. The mighty Mississippi was providing the perfect sound effects. The architecture from the old buildings were telling the stories of bustling business at the rivers edge in days gone by.
